Origins of Olympus (4) (Pegasus)

Disappointingly Inaccurate to Greek/Roman Mythology
Granted, this book was rather entertaining, with many engaging characters (love you Agent B), vivid descriptions, and was fairly well written overall. It was also pleasant to have a disabled girl as one of the strongest, most capable characters in the book. However, though I did like the references to the Titonomachy and other ancient sources, hardly anything was accurate and nothing stayed true to the original myths. Although there are many different versions and adaptations of these ancient stories, some aspects are not debatable. For example, the author claimed that the Hydra was on the side of the Olympians, which is completely false, as the Hydra was the child of Echidna and Typhon, two of the giants the Olympian deities faced after the end of the war with the Titans. In fact, the Hydra would not have even been alive during the Titan/Olympian War, as it was born after the death of Typhon, allowed to live only because the gods desired for there to be monsters and challenges for future heros to overcome, such as Heracles(or the Roman Hercules), who was the one who overcame and killed the Hydra.Another innacuracy in this book is the fact that, during the Titanomachy, the only Olympians staging this coup were the original six gods and goddesses: Jupiter/Zeus, Neptune/Poseidon, Pluto/Hades, Juno/Hera, Ceres/Demeter, and Vesta/Hestia. The author adds in many of the second generation Olympians, such as Hephastus. None of these younger gods were even born at this time, which is a rather large inconsistency. However, despite these innacuracies, of which there are many more, this book would still most likely appeal to anyone who does not delve deeply into Greek and Roman mythology and are irked by unorthodox and unrelated adaptions of these ancient sources.

The Pegasus series just got even better! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
Pegasus: Origins of Olympus (book 5), Kate O'Hearn - I didn't think it possible but this series for young teens and up just got better with Kate taking an imaginative story to a whole new lever. I agree with others who proclaim this is the best book of the series. Roman gods do battle the ancient Titans to save Olympus and Earth from destruction but its the added elements that expand this theme and create a truly AMAZING tale. An ancient power, the solar stream, and collective memory carried the characters into new realms of possibilities that made me wonder what could possibly come next. Two things I would like to see happen in book 6 -- The healing of the one character that obviously needed it and, as others have voiced, the pairing up of the main characters. I really don't see how Kate can possibly top the events in this book, but I can't wait to find out. I love Kate's economy of words. Her descriptions don't drag with detail but there is enough to visualize the scene. Characters thoughts and reactions are clear many times with only subtle hints. Her storytelling flows naturally with out seeming complex or confusing when in truth there are so many things happening I would be lost without her sure footed guidance. Kate is truly an author to examine and admire for her gifted writing. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this escape to a WONDERFULLY imagined world of battle, suffering, and love where magical powers can heal and return what was lost. Thanks so much for sharing your stories. ----- Author, Diane Gronas, Starseeker

Olympians Aging
Archeology is not always a good thing, especially when they uncover an ancient weapon. This ancient weapon can age the Olympians. It's up to Emily and her friends to find this weapon and destroy it before all Olympians grow old and die, including Emily's beloved Pegasus.

Good service
I ordered this as a Christmas present for my granddaughter (I had bought her the 1st 3 in the series without realizing she had already read those, so placed an order on Christmas Day for the last 3). Book arrived in about 2 weeks, perfect condition, and she was very excited.

Best Book Ever
I loved reading this book. It had action, love and drama. I almost cried at some parts because they were pretty sad, but I love when books let me experience the characters joys and sadnesses. I loved the part where Emily kisses Joel. SOOO CUTE. ( BTW I'm a 12 year old. )

11-year-old loved it
Our 11-year-old, who loves Greek and Roman mythology, will normally only gravitate towards graphic novels. And, although she has read some of the books from the Percy Jackson series, she was not terribly a fan of them. But this novel she absolutely loved as it had a female protagonist with whom she could identify. She's asked to read the rest of the books in this series, and looks forward to being wildly entertained again!

Stunning Sequel
Some people say sequels aren't as good as the previous books, but Kate O' Hearn just proved that wrong. This book had a good plot, great amount of detail, and the characters were very well developed. The way this book is written makes you want to delve deeper in, which is great for a book. This book was great, with surprises that packed a punch. The character development evolved much more, and you really get to know and understand the characters.Overall, this was an amazing book. I loved reading it, and I would recommend it to any Rick Riordan or roman/greek mythology fan.

I Did Not Expect All That!
When I read the first page, I did not expect a time travel adventure not did I expect dragons or Chronos to be in it!

Suprisingly good.
I bought this for my Kindle along with Books 1-3. I was desperate for something to read and thought I would try this series. Not sure if it is meant for adults or children or both but I enjoyed reading all of them.
