More like 4.75 stars but still very, very good.
I'm an aspiring 53 year old model engineer/hobby machinist. For me, apart from the obvious qualities, like durability and fit (more of which in a bit), the number one thing an apron has to have is enough pockets. This has enough pockets (and with the deletion of one irritating feature, more than enough!).Going from right to left:My lathe chuck key in the little riveted 'leather' loop**A little mitutoyo 150 rule, and a teensy little 70 mm Vernier calliper in the first pocket. An auto-centre punch and a little pocket scriber in the next pocket. In the phone pocket, no phone*, but a few fine permanent markers, my beloved Kuru Toga pencil, a little swarf brush, and a fat jumbo blue permanent for layout. In the pouch pocket I have a Jacobs chuck key for my lathe's tailstock drill chuck. In the hammer loop, there's nothing right now. When I get round to it, I'll turn up a delrin insert so a little locating hammer will stay securely in it***In the right pouch pocket, I have a little squeezy air duster for blowing away swarf, and in the right, I have my Engineer's Black Book, and a Zeus reference booklet.I said more than enough, didn't I? Well, the chocolate teapot 'magnetic pocket', that loves to gather up swarf, and grab at tools and tooling has had a 'magnetectomy' and now adds another three pockets to the total. One pocket has a little Japanese higonakami knife and another has a little 50 mm square. I haven't worked out yet what to put in the final 'added' pocket. So yeah, it's got enough pockets.Durability? Well, my apron is, after nearly 2 years filthy as whatever (I really ought to wash it, and I will soon as I'm going to buy another one of these aprons as a spare) but other than cleanliness, it's in as good order as when I bought it a couple of years back.Ease of putting it on? Eh, if you can't work out how to put it on by just looking at it for 10 seconds, I'm not sure you should be trusted with sharp scissors, let alone tools! It is comfortable, although yeah, it's not Carribbean beachwear, it'll keep you warm and cosy in the winter in your shed. In the summer, if you live somewhere that gets hot, you probably ought to invest in some air-con.Is it stiff? It's sturdy waxed canvas, for goodness' sake. Of course it's stiff. If you want an apron for baking cupcakes, get a kitchen apron! :DThe only downside other than the annoying magnetic pocket (which as mentioned, is easily solved to the added benefit of more pockets) is the flimsy bit of 'leather' holding the crossed straps. Eh, it's not that much of an issue but since I like making things to solve problems (although leatherwork isn't my game), I just made a replacement out of thick hide leather that I got on eBay, dirt cheap. For the money, this is easily the most functionally useful workshop apron on Amazon, and frankly, I've had a good look and I can't see anything more expensive that does what I need it to, either.*my phone sits on the nearest 'safe' surface to where I'm working, easily accessible for me to look up speeds and feeds, convert from the ever-cursed fractional imperial, to either decimal imperial or metric, or to take pictures so I don't forget how some bit of machinery goes back together!**my father said to me: "always, always have a place for your chuck key, and always, always, always put it back there when you take it out of the chuck; the chuck key should either be in your hand, or in its stowage place, never anywhere else!*** looking at other older reviews, it seems some clearly wanted to keep honking great mallets in the hammer ring, so Briteree sadly listened to them and made the ring big enough to hold Mjolnir. Bloody woodworkers! Same people who probably inspired the silly magnetic pocket! :D

Comfortable, easy to put on, very effective at blocking wood chip, easy to vac
Very comfortable, easy to put on. Highly effective at reducing woodchip from routing, sawing and probably for wood turning. My jackets/outer layers have previously been absolutely covered - with some of it always tracking back into the house, which is not good for health and safety - so this apron is fabulous in its primary purpose. The pockets (in common with other aprons) and the magnetic components are very useful too. Because it's quite a sturdy/thick material, it is also quite easy to vac, unlike thinner materials to which a vsc hose would stick. Overall a very happy customer, tick tick tick

husband loved it
Husband said perfect for woodworking, great quality and functional products it has clips rather than a tie so it can't come open easily

Should have got one years ago
In terms of function, the pockets are good and the material and finish good quality. Due to the strapping arrangement, it's not as easy or quick to put on or take off than a traditional apron but then again it's heavier so a single neck strap would likely dig in. The screw magnet panel - although a good idea in principle didn't work for any the screws I tried. Good product, a little expensive but it feels like it will last.

A bit of a faff, but
A bit tricky to get on and off, I would not want to do it every 5 minutes. However, once on and adjusted this is a fine piece of kit. Sturdy without being ridiculous, fitted and comfortable. Made of a good useable weight waxed canvas that will soften over time. Not the cheapest out there ,but, I am very pleased with my choice and expect years of use out of it.Personally , I would recommend it as long as you do not expect to be shuffling in and out of it every 10 minutes.

Whoa!
What a fantastic quality apron!Thick, heavy but not uncomfortable, really good value for money, feels protective and looks really good!A good fit as I'm 6ft 4 inches, really impressed and looks the part.

Machine Apron
I split my work from machining to bench. I have found the apron very sturdy especially working battens through resaw/crosscut/moulding. The pockets are very adequate and I can carry all my nick knacks easily and too hand. The magnate has proven useful in a few ways especially in assembly. The down side in use is the the straps twisting. I find this product aids me in my daily work and keeps essentials too hand including the dreaded phone.
