Brief Overview of Scientific Evidence for the Genesis Account.
I got the paperback Evangelical Press. Good sturdy paperback. Good quality paper and type, lots of charts/images that are well-sized and easily appreciated. An overview of the science of creationism. This is divided into a number of sections dealing with the origin of the physical universe, the origin of life, the cataclysmic changes wrought by the flood. The book takes a strong Bible-based view of creation but does not try to hammer everything out. It looks at the science from 30,000 feet discussing different theories of where creation science is today. The author takes for granted the veracity of the Genesis account and then discusses the evidence that points to it. He also deals with evidence that seems to point away from the Genesis account.I especially found the discussions on the Flood very interesting. I liked the way he was not dogmatic about any of the science. He considers the science of creation to be in an embryonic stage with much work left to do. He recommends many other books and authors along the way. He closes with a short discussion of the gospel and a call to the reader to look further and deeper. This is a far cry - in the right direction in my opinion - from much of the Christian discussion of origins thats out there - the Bio-Logos type stuff. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is considering taking seriously the Genesis account of the origins of the earth and life.

Logic
He does manage to cover just about every branch of science having any bearing on the subject and exposes how every one of them does fit creation rather than particles to people evolution vastly better. How both sides use the exact same facts (things that are real) to come to opposite conclusions. Evolutionists sneer that creationists "Just don't have enough imagination to believe evolution."Which is more logical? An all powerful, intelligent Being outside space, matter, energy and time chose to make the universe? By using His vast intelligence, power, etc. for His own reasons and purposes. Like His expressing His artistic skill, creativity, love, and so on.Or that nothing, acting on nothing with nothing, with no plan, no goal, no materials, no time or area to do it in, and no power to do it, created everything purely by accident through violating every law of the universe (like thermodynamics, genetics, etc.) repeatedly? And oh yes. Things that are impossible the first year, second year, third year, etc. become not only possible but mandatory the 256 millionth year after being impossible for 255, 999, 999 years in a row.Evolution denies miracles by God. Yet requires millions or billions of miracles to come up with what we have today.

The premier general book on creationism available to date
Despite being 10 years old, The New Creationism remains essential reading for skeptic and creationist students alike. Garner makes a clean break from the "evolution bashing" of some (though by no means all) creationist proponents, instead focusing on the positive model-building of YEC researchers in a variety of disciplines. Geology is perhaps overrepresented, however this is to be expected considering the centrality of the Flood account to YEC reconstructions. Garner, like many other YEC researchers (such as Todd Wood and Kurt Wise), does not shy away from his Biblical presuppositions, instead he boldly sets them out and argues that productive scientific work can be done from within a Biblical framework. The New Creationism invites the reader to travel a new path of creationist research and discovery, one where problems and puzzles are not denied nor explained away with superficial and ad hoc arguments, but instead become exciting and intriguing possibilities for the inquiring and adventurous. The Biblical account, far from being an impediment to science, becomes a springboard for new and innovative thinking, for asking questions that mainstream workers often miss. For Christian readers, The New Creationism is an encouragement to look at the scientific enterprise not as a foe to be defeated, but a never-ending journey of discovering and understanding the works of God. As the psalmist has said, "Great are the works of the Lord, studied by all who delight in them."

Good overview of the current state of creationist reseach
This book provides an good summary of alternative explanations for the origin and development of our world based on both Scripture and science. Furthermore, it introduces the reader to ongoing creationist studies that have built on and are refining initial theories from the mid-20th century and before. Thus is valuable because these current theories are accessing the newest scientific discoveries from both evolutionary and creationist research, as well undertaking original groundbreaking creationist research of their own. This is a very valuable overview and resource for anyone interested in deeper research into creationism.

A very balanced viewpoint
This is a deep and challenging book. It turns around conventional thinking about evolution with some proven facts and with considered alternative theories. It is fair and open in its approach to evolution. I'm no scientist, and although it is written for the lay person, I find that I need to digest it in small quantities. It stands very firmly for the authenticity of scripture and can give any Christian a strong foundation for trusting in the truths the bible teaches. I wish it were used in schools to give young people the opportunity to consider creationism from a scientific point of view, rather than their being presented with evolution as a proven fact, with no consideration of the many unexplained and unexplainable points which are raised in this book.
