Best complimentary piece of equipment...
I cannot state enough, how great a piece of equipment this is! After my safety gear, this may be the best investment I've made. Where to start? There really are just so many great features.First off, weight distribution. I cannot state this enough and I believe no one really stresses this enough. Grab any backpack, store 5 bottles of water with your basic trail or long term adventure ride needs and you'll by packing lightly, have at least a 20lb pack; and on your back, 20lbs will wear you down fast, maybe even knock you off balance if items shift suddenly. Throw the same items in this vests' 12 pockets, add an extra 15lbs in gear, throw it on and you'll notice the difference right away. It'll actually feel light because the weight is so nicely distributed. Now you won't have room for 5 bottles of water but...You will have room for a hydration pack, it comes with a 70oz pack. For me, enough on most trail rides, but the pocket will fit something maybe 2.5 times the size. This in itself is a great advantage, not having to take your helmet off, backpack off, etc. to take a drink but simply take the tube, bite firmly and suck on like a straw and boom! You're golden. Not to mention, I feel like in the event of an accident, at least a minor one, the pack will provide some cushion. The front pockets leave me with plenty of room for a utility knife, extra spark plugs, camera, GoPro gear (extra mounts, extra screws, etc.), my wallet, keys, small flashlight, some protein bars and a sandwich. The three rear pockets are huge! I store an extra pair of gloves as well as an actual case for my GoPro with some extra accessories. One of these is intended for tools, however, I feel this may not be a great idea unless you have no other choice. My bikes have tool bags, I'd rather leave the stuff that can injure me on the bike and not on my body in the case of an accident. All of this... and I've got a few empty pockets.Fit is very adjustable I wear over Fox Titan armor with room to spare, so don't worry about it.This thing is awesome, no lies. It just looks cool too and that don't hurt it much either.

works well for working/hiking through brush
Although I will use this for riding my motorcycle and mountain bike, I primarily wanted this for exploring in the woods. I needed to carry a lot of equipment to document old home sites and graves. I wanted to be able to evenly distribute the weight, carry water & food, and not get hung up walking through brush. This has worked on all accounts. I have been out on several trips now carrying 40 ounces of water (2 1/2 bottles), pistol, taser, 100 ft tape measure, layers of clothing, food, sharpies, note cards, camera, underwater camera, gps, dog food, flashlights, metal detector and accruements, marking tape, and other miscellaneous items. Everything but the metal detector fits inside the vest pockets, with some room to spare. It allows me to spread out the load. Although that's a lot of weight, it is fairly comfortable. I'm only 5'4 and about 180. It would fit a much bigger person. I tried the Troy Lee vest first and had to return it because the large was way too small. I moved the water into the smaller back pocket, which allows the larger one to be free for clothing. I can still carry 2 1/2 bottles of water in the flask. All in all, this is the vest backpack that I hoped it would be. I do wish they had added Velcro inside the front pockets to aid in securing a holster - the pocket is too big, so I've got to figure out how to make it not move around.Edit, 2022: The vest is still holding up very well. It holds a LOT of gear. I'm still very pleased and only wish it had one place to clip the taser holster. Otherwise, it is perfect. On Tuesday, I carried the following items on a 3 1/2 mile no-trail hike: water, food, 3 flashlights, crayfish measuring tool, camera, jacket, brushes for the grave stones, dry erase placard, first aid kit, extra socks, garbage bags, flagging tape, flags, snacks, phone, compass, id, and more. There was room to carry more! It is not uncomfortable.

Aviation Survival Vest
I needed a survival vest for back country flying. I did a lot of research and this seemed to be the best. Now that I have it, I am really pleased that I chose this one. Lots of pockets, convenient layout, short enough that it is comfortable while seated in the pilot's seat, and it has a hydration bladder so no need to have separate water bottles. It has good adjustments for semi-custom fit. In addition to zipper pockets it has several D-rings and loops for items that fit best (flashlight, for instance) that way.UPDATE: Used it for a week flying 4 hours or more every day in backcountry Idaho. Other pilots in the class had other vests. I would say this one was BY FAR the best overall solution. Only drawback is that you have to decide what goes in the vest. Some other vests are marketed as a "package" solution with contents already installed. Frankly I like the idea of deciding what I need, rather than have someone else do it. Food, for instance, strikes me as a waste of space and weight. If you have a crash and survive and carry a PLB (Spot, RescueQuick, etc.) you will be rescued long before you starve to death. Average rescue in lower 48 in backcountry is two days or less. Skip the food, carry more water. All in all, I would rate this as nearly perfect.

Better than expected.
WOW! What a nice addition to my adventure riding ensemble. Very well made and more pockets anyone should need. Can't wait to try it out on a little adventure ride I have this weekend. And the fact that it has a hydration pack is even a bigger bonus. Anyone that wears up to a 2XL should be comfortable in this vest. Anyone larger I couldn't say. I wear a size 40 pants and have a pretty good beer belly and it fits over my Field Shear jacket with room to spare. What a great price as well. All around excellent buying experience.
