The Passion Translation New Testament Espresso: With Psalms, Proverbs and Song of Songs

This version is very understandable and readable. I have found it making me readdress my conventional thinking acquired over the years. It is so difficult to satisfy every reader, especially those with set preferences, but this version certainly would help those who prefer to stick to one version to see a new light. It is very readable and great for adding to understanding where a literal translation is hard to follow. At times this version, as part of its translation/rendering, can give additional words to explain a difficult Greek word. The translating dilemma is often supplemented along with informative footnotes. All translators have to fall for what they see as the "correct" or preferred translation of a word or term, especially in the light of recent research. To use this in a discussion asserting "the Bible says" and quote this lovely version to make a point still has to be returned with the question "and what did the Author say?" For those who can't read the Greek, this is a useful version to include in general Bible study. It provides a most enjoyable and relaxing read.

To all those knocking this version, compare this to the codexes, not other versions. All translations are versions. Just because this does not necessarily conform to what they expect, does not and should not bring scorn or complaint from those who are not really looking for a new translation. After all what is the point of writing, in effect, to complain that is version is different from their favourite version, or versions. AFTER ALL THEY ARE ALL VERSIONS. If you dont like it, no problem, but don't rip it apart on those grounds. Beware the Jewish priests rejected Jesus because they didnt like his version!!!

Loving this easy to read translation of the bible. True to text but touches the heart great

Good price and good read

Despite adding delivery details for my workplace for delivery with opening hours etc., delivery was scheduled for a Monday and arrived on the 3rd delivery attempt the following Thursday. Opened the box and was very disappointed to note that the book was damaged, see photos. Not a good quality book, print is faint, font is a good size to be fair. Would not order from here again. Very disappointing as this was supposed to be a gift for a new believer!

It’s written with the power of the Holy Spirit It literally speaks to you when you read it with all of your heart. It’s one of the most powerful versions we have ever come across.

I’ve heard a lot of questionable stuff about this Bible. I’ve heard even more questionable stuff on out its main translator, but I just don’t see why. It’s really just an easy to read, almost novel-like version of the Bible. It has an explanation in the beginning explaining why it’s not exactly word for word; it has great explanations and commentary to help the reader understand the verse and the translations; it encourages readers to compare with other translations; and it has all “added for context, explanation, or better understanding” words in italics so if your skeptical about anything, you’ll know whether it’s added context. I love it. It’s helped me to read the Bible so much more than I ever have before and it’s strengthened my relationship with God so much because I can not only understand what I’m reading better, but I can understand it AS I read it. Previously, it used to take hours of questions, researching, studying, and learning the history and context of even the simplest verses. I still research and make sure I truly understand what I’m reading, but this has just made it so much easier and also made it possible for me to not have to make an Olympic sport out of reading my bible every time I go to read it.

I already had the paperback books, but I wanted to buy the full set in one book for my kindle, which is so much easier to take to bible study. It gives a fresh, new understanding of the love of God and enlightens most believers who are open to richer way of speaking, other than the old English language. Brian has a good understand of the Hebrews and their culture. He reveals background concordance information not printed in the bible.
