This journal is beautiful and a good journal. The lock works great. However, the outside material is starting to crack after only a couple weeks but I do write a lot. So, overall a great journal.

Excellent quality. Refillable using a basic paperback journal (or removing the cover from a hardback journal) inserted into the sleeves. Lays decently flat and pages are good quality, making for easy writing. Though, due to the lock on the front, you may want to use a soft surface (i.e. bed, lap, foam pad) when writing on the left pages. The only minor thing (preventing a full 5 stars) is that the scrolling dials for the lock code are a little close together so if your fingers are a bit larger, it feels a little cramped when using them.
