I needed to carry loads of 100+lbs of stone down a long steep hillside and was concerned that a shapeless bag with no frame or hip support would make the job dangerous or clumsy. When it arrived, it weighed little and I was concerned it might not be up for the job. Not at all - it is heavy-duty canvas and served excellently as a secure backpack for many loads.I had to tie off the straps at the double D rings so they did not work loose as I humped it down the path But even when they had worked loose, they did not fail, just became uncomfortably large.Later i used on-site, shovelling wet muddy gravel into the bag and hauling to a better place. I felt bad getting the bag so dirty, but it did not mind at all![EDIT] This was a very handsome bag when new, and I regretted getting dirt on it. Now it is stained by mud and portland cement; and scarred by sun and rain. It looks even better!! I wish the same were true of me.

Couldn't be better. I tend to have a taste for things that don't exist. Sometimes it turns out that I'm wrong, though. Like this piece. It does exist! Been looking on and off for years for something like this. Maybe I was searching on the wrong terms the whole time. But I don't think so.Nice heavy canvas, seems really well made. Straps are sturdy, wide, and nicely padded. I went with the Upgrade Khaki Big one. Great size. Upgrade khaki small would probably be about the size of the average backpack, not what i was after. This holds a great amount of stuff but isn't huge, either. The large outside zippered pocket is really useful.Only negatives (which is too strong a word here), and this is really nit-picky: the inside pocket flap thingie would be better sewn in sideways. so what you have in there isn't all upside-down when you flip the pocket out, and the small outside pocket is REALLY small. And flat. All that would realistically go in there was a pack of Trident, a bus pass, a few bills and some change, and a key ring with two house keys on it. But these details aren't even close to deal-breakers.

This is the mom writing this review. I bought each of my sons one of these bags and they really like them. The bags have nicely-thought-out details, like an internal clasp for keys and useful internal and outer pockets with zipper enclosures. Straps are reinforced where sewn on. I like that the main compartment does not feature a zipper enclosure, as I think the grommet-metal-loop enclosure will hold up better. (I wish, though, that they had sent instructions for this feature, as it is not intuitive and we'd never had a bag with this feature before.) We have only used these on one trip so far, so they've not been thoroughly tested, but so far we are pleased.

First off, there has to be something said about how its packed. The bag is in a clear plastic bag. The clear plastic bag is in a shipper bag. The shipper bag is in a bigger shipper bag. Then its shipped in a box. A colossus waste of plastic.Immediately you cant tell its made cheaply, and with inexpensive canvas material. It has poor stitching quality. This will not last more then a year, at best. I was going to use this as a range back, but there is no way it would withstand heavy use over time.The pocket near the back doesn't make sense. The edge of it sits on your kidney, so unless you have something soft there, its unusable.If this bag was $10, I'd keep it. But not for the $35 charged.

The bag is great....however I should have looked elsewhere as I found the exact item half the prize

It’s very small compared to what it says in the details.The quality doesn’t match either. It doesn’t close so it’s impossible to use for traveling.I am not satisfied.

Not sure how it will hold up. The stitching looks like it was put together by some fall down drunk. Other than that...it looks cool but if it breaks what’s the point. Chop up all that time and money the company put in to hap-hazardly making this bag into a bunch of rags.

I purchased this to use a carry on travel bag but only had the opportunity to use it once before noticing it coming apart in a couple of places. I would be cautious to buy this if you intend to use this as a daily carry or at all for that matter. Busted seem, zipper is coming undone at the bottom and one of the grommets has bent.

Good, tough bag. Carries a lot of stuff. I waterproofed it using a sillicon-based camping spray. It is made like a big cylinder without much inner pockets and seperators and is very easy to use; fill it up and you're ready to go. No messing around trying to remember where you put this or that at the airport - undo the clasp, open it, get what you need and close it back. My new EDC backpack.TL;DR : Big and sturdy. Carries a lot of stuff. Would buy again in a heartbeat.

I bought this for my trip to Africa... I like to travel light carry on only... And this is what I chose to purchase.I have not yet used this bag but it came fast and the material seems durable...love the one access point and ...there is some nice pockets on the inside.Ive filled it it and I like how it sits on my small frameI am very happy with my purchase.

I bought this duffel bag to bring back groceries. I am very happy with the quality of assembly of the materials. The upgraded version's pockets are very helpful indeed. I just brought back a bagful today and to honest, I was a bit surprised to notice the shoulder straps loosening often at times. I acknowledge the fact that my load was fairly heavy, but that should not justify the loosening I found on both shoulders. However, I was nevetheless very happy with the overall comfort of the straps themselves. Finally, at 35$, this bag is a real deal for anyone looking for a good deal with this kind of bag. Still, very satisfied! B+

If this was $20 i would buy it. The largest size is still small for a duffel bag. More like a fasion urban duffel back. Zippers came broke, straps are flimsy. Save your money and look for an army surplus duffel bag this thing is not worth it at all. Im not a gear snob either, this is just not a great bag.

This bag sucks as a backpack. The shoulder straps barely stay in their adjusted position and the bags already uncomfortable as is. Lame bag and wouldn't recommend them. If you want an army bag, go with a larger size and a single strap version if you can find one
