A lifetimes practice
9 hours a day practice, over a period of time, may create the ability to look, see, apply, play, and hear an amazing difference to such a beautiful instrument, whatever that may be.

Thorough and well organised book for improving technique
This is a practice book for aspiring Jazz musicians. It’s aimed at beginners but intermediate players should also benefit from its thorough approach. It is divided into six chapters, and each focusses on a different type of scale:- Major- Minor- Dominant- Melodic Minor- Diminished- Pentatonic & BluesAll the keys of each scale are shown in full for every exercise, and this is helpful for beginners. Many books take a different approach and give an example in one or two keys then instruct you to transpose into the remaining keys. Each chapter is arranged into five sections:- Scales and exercises- Motif exercises- “Finger Busters”- Extended motifs- Ideas for improvisingThe exercises and studies are different for each key, so this provides some variety. With 192 pages, there’s plenty to keep you busy. Depending on your ability you could stick to the easier keys to start with and progress through the chapters or focus on a scale in all keys. There’s enough exercises to keep you busy, and improve technique. The patterns should also help with improvisation.I like the way this book is set out. There’s plenty of scope to design your own practice regimes quickly, without having to transpose.
