BEWARE... this may not fit your trailer if it has a top rail...???
BEWARE...it may not fit your trailer if yours has a top rail or stake pocket too close to anything the spare tire can hit...!!!I bought two of these... one for my small 10' Carry-On utility trailer (Tractor Supply)... and one for my 20' Big-Tex open deck car trailer. The small trailer has a top rail, and when mounted on this carrier in the front pocket the spare tire hits the front top rail, and when mounted on the carrier in the back pocket the spare tire hits the back of the fender. I had to go buy a different clamp-on style carrier at Tractor Supply to clamp on to the front top rail to mount my spare. My open car trailer has no top rail, but it has a sub frame that will not allow the bottom hold down bar and bolt to be installed. It is pretty sloppy and with a good bump in the road it may pop out. I will have to drill and put a bolt thru the stake pocket and this carrier to secure it solid.So... I can only use one of these, and will have to store the other one until I have another trailer it will fit.

The product was just what I was looking for
I liked the flexibility and easy of installation. It was what I was looking for in a spare tire carrier without loosing a stake pocket.

Very strong, Easy as pie to install
The install of the mount itself is very very easy. When mounting the lower bar through the stake pocket, I would suggest offsetting it just a touch as it will give you a stronger mount to the pocket. The only issue that becomes tougher is the bolts for the tire mount itself are not installed and need to be pressed in. It's not a big deal if you have access to an impact wrench or a breaker bar for leverage. If you plan on installing the press-fit bolts yourself using an impact wrench or breaker bar, get about 4 or 5 class-5 washers and put those on, then install the lug nut backwards. The washers are needed to act as spacers because the press-fit will extend beyond the metal plate of the tire mount bracket. Installing the lug nut backwards ensures the bolt will go on straight and you won't ruin the nut. Tighten down until the press-fit is firmly seated against the metal plate. Remove and do the next one and you are golden!!Once installed, it is rock solid!!

Quick, simple and safe spare tire carrier mount
The media could not be loaded. Our best alternative in carrying a spare tire. Choose appropriate lug bolt arrangement and drive them into mount or use impact with metal spacers to drawn them in.You won’t sacrifice valuable D-ring tie downs as the tire carrier includes one permanently attached 5/8” D-ring.I mounted this on the passenger side since it’s safer to remove spare tire and remount potential flat on the shoulder of a freeway versus on the driver side.Installation is quick and simple I used a small amount of anti-seize on the bolt should I decide to remove it in the future.Tightens down firmly and does not rattle or shake. Gloss painted finish on 3/16” metal plate. Extremely pleased with this tailer modification from Extreme Max Products.

good but could be better.
installing the studs is always "fun". after getting them full installed you can tell by the pics the blocking grooves that hold the stud in place extend quite a bit passed the steel. I have a 15 inch rim and after the lug nuts are installed to hold the wheel the tip of the nut looks like its hitting those grooves. I feel the steel plate should ba a little thicker in that location or it should use a different stud. over all i am happy with the product and am glad i have a way to hold my spare tire. little disappointed in the finish. it turned from a gloss black to a faded black after about 4 months of being in the sun.

Extreme Max washed their hands
Product will work with modification at my cost.In my case, the piece that goes into the stake pocket is longer than my stake pocket thus the bolt/locking bar doesn't tighten up against the bottom of my stake pocket. I either need to chop off the bottom of the bracket or raise it up and bolt it from the outside of the stake pocket.I'm not as upset about modifying as I am about Extreme Max's instructions vs response. When their instructions clearly state to contact them directly with any problems, and I do, with pictures, their response is contact Amazon as they're the ones that "captured the funds for this purchase"...sigh, thanks for the help Daniel Clarke and Extreme Max, way to help a (one time) customer with your product.
