This is 12 volt direct current, so yes you can connect to a leisure battery just make sure it's fused and cable length is matched suitably with cable seize

Q: can you have the fan on without the light?

Yes, they can be switched separately.

Q: Is there an installation manual available?

I believe so. Check the wiring before you seal it up. I didn't need the light so I checked it was only the fan connected before I covered the wiring. I'm not good at electrics and I managed it.!🤔
