Leviton 10045 Medium Base, One-Piece, Keyless, Incandescent, Glazed Porcelain Lampholder, White

This is a quality manufacturer part repair lamps and or light fixtures that have the threaded stud to connect to, I had outdoor light fixtures that the LED panel failed, so I converted each to accept an LED light bulb. I was able to do so because above the failed light panels there was a threaded stud where the wires came through and I installed this device. I had to pull the wires out a little to connect them, afterwards I gently pushed them in while pulling on the other end and it went very smoothly! (Don't forget the installation order includes the cardboard insulation barrier to prevent and wires from touching metal.) oh, I like that the screws to assemble the base are inside the socket, this was an extra bonus from older models of this part!

I did 3 lamps, but the third tripped the GFCI. It tested as shorted, so the lamp came apart and I rewired it.The design is quite good, fairly insulated, but I have two tips.1) Don’t screw the lamp rod too far in. The lamp rod can have a sharp edge and is best not inserted too far.2) Bend the power wires to center them carefully as they go into the lamp rod.The issue, is that as you screw the insulated top into place, the lamp rod and cover edges can scratch against (and damage) the wiring insulation (you’re forcing them down with the two screws). You could even put a little black tape there to be sure.Other than this, the socket is well designed and properly installed, it works just great.

Bought as a replacement for a broken lamp. Precisely duplicated a much older Leviton.

Worked as anticipated in my lamp refurbishing project.Pricey but quality is there.

The metal base was very thin and weak. Other than that it seems like an ok product.

Could not find item in box store. Shipping was faster than estimated.

This was the correct product although overpriced. I believe the chipping occurred because the metal cap was loose in the little plastic bag. Maybe it was shipped that way already chipped, maybe not. If you pack porcelain with a loose metal part, this will happen. The chips were in the little baggie.

It works well.

These items have been available for years because they do the job they are designed for well using materials that are appropriate to their use. In this case, hard to improve on tradition.

used to refurbish outdoor fixture

1 was slightly chipped but useable packaged in bubble wrap worked perfectly and in my case the chipped edge was being hidden by the light shade. Second qas was perfect likwd these cause they hide the wires.

Really nice vintage looking piece. a bit fragile ( will not withstand a drop) but looks awesome.
