Shadowmancer (Shadowmancer, Bk 1) Paperback – May 9, 2005

I loved this book. And all of G.P. Taylors other books. You have to pick this book up and read it yourself. Not having some other person judging for you. And I am saying this because I have heard a lot of negitive reveiws lately. YOU have to read it.P.S. If you liked Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings, The Chronicles of Narnia, Eargon or Eldest read this book. But I recommend you read Shadowmancer, them Wormwood and then Tersias the Oracle and then his new one called The Curse of Salamander Street but that will not be out until September. READ THIS BOOK! It was great!!!

This book was hard for me to follow at first, but I could not put it down.I am still waiting for the next book! HURRY UP!

This turned out to be something that I have really enjoyed and know others would like it just as I have.I would recommend this to anyone that likes Christian Suspense/Mystery/Fantasy books. I wouldn't pass this up. I'll be reading this again in the future.

Nice read

Although the book contains a sort of “parallel” to Christian concepts , it is a DARK book and at one point the author said something that makes it sound like “god” is really satan. I can’t remember the exact way it was put, but It was SO wrong and at that point I could not help but wonder whether the person who wrote this is actually saved or whether someone changed something in the book before it was published. This is NOT a Christian book. It has basically a hint at Christian belief but it is very dark, and then when you see them say something that implies God is really satan… sorry but that ruined the entire book for me.Satan and his forces ARE dark, so you sort of expect to see some of that in a book about spiritual warfare, but this book has an even darker feel to it than we would expect of a book intended to promote truth, the power of God , the Victory in Jesus etc that we would expect. Then to make it sound like “god” is really Satan by the characteristics the author attributes to him… CLEARLY this was not written under the influemce of the biblical God’s Spirit. A little leaven leaven’s the whole lump. I CANNOT recommend this book. I do NOT believe it is a Christian book. The author very well may believe they are a Christian, but imo we should be praying for them for true salvation. Again I suppose its possible someone changed a certain passage to imply “god” is really Satan, but the entire book is so dark and does not lead people to Jesus or to the truths of God’s word, which imo any true Christian book would attempt to do even if its not overtly about Christianity.I would most definitely recommend against this book for true Christians . I am giving it two stars because it has been promoted as a Christian book and it just does not match up. One star for the decent writing, but its too dark. One because they imply God is really Satan.Sorry to have to do this Mr. Taylor, but it’s really important if you are going to promote a book as Christian that it hold up to promoting Truth , even as a work of fiction.

Sci-fi fantasy, not so much to my fancy, but very well written. Actually would probably be preferred by younger readers, i.e. middle school and some high school.

I read this book for the first time 8 years ago and since then it has remained one of my favorite YA books. I contently recommend it to others. Raphah grabbed hold of my heart and to this day he is one of my favorite literary characters: quiet, humble, powerful, Christ-like. I read this book in a matter of hours and reread it numerous times in the last 8 years. Whenever I'm browsing through a bookstore, I always pull this book from the shelf, skim through the pages, relive the adventure. I didn't want this sad, hopeful, satisfying book to end. I'm so glad G.P. Taylor has written many more books!

Great series, wish it was longer, but overall really enjoyed the story and characters.

Interesting read, language is bit slow but overall it's good.

l have nearly finished the book and l am enthralled with this writer cannot wait for next book to come.

This was another very atmospheric and super read from G.P. Taylor for me - and I thoroughly enjoyed it! It's the second great book I've read by this author; the first being the fabulous `Wormwood'. (see my review for that title) My one and only gripe with this was that so much of the story subtly related too much to the bible and Christianity beliefs - without actually mentioning or referring to them directly I felt. I do prefer my fantasy and sci-fi reads to be totally independent from those subjects/topics, but at times I felt I was reading something vaguely `religious' which I don't recall feeling with the previous read. However; this is a tiny gripe, and did not deter too much from the great read that it was, and am already looking forward to my next read from this great Writer!Another Five Stars from me!
