Nice Base for Spinning Tops
This is a very nice base for spinning tops. The black walnut was a nice option. My spins times increased by using glass over an acrylic base. The glass is a little flat and it can a few minutes plus for the top to settle in the center. Otherwise, it was a very good purchase.

Decent base, but one flaw...
Way better glass than another brand I first tried which was way too concave. This one seems perfect...and mine is not as off-center as another review I saw. As for the base, it's not completely flat, it's slightly warped. Even after putting on the provided rubber feet, it has a slight wobble. I would return it, but I'm not confident the next won't be the same. I may adjust it myself by sanding one corner. For now I just set the whole thing on a neoprene pad so there's no wobble.

EXCELLENT Lens for top spinning, but measured as 1000mm focal length, which is even better!
The media could not be loaded. This is a great lens and with the teak spin station creates a wonderful package overall that I highly recommend, especially having just finished spinning a 52g, 1.47" diameter tungsten/aluminum top with ruby spin bearing for 32.7 minutes on this lens (video attached, accelerated after 30 seconds), clean and free of any "surface lube" (oftentimes, just skin oil being recommended to prep a slicker surface). The only thing I noticed that contradicts the item description, is that using a base lens clock, I measured the concavity at -0.5 diopters. Focal length is given in meters as the inverse of the diopter, FL = 1/D, so that equates to 2.0 meters or 2000mm. Commonly, it seems that lenses are actually half that value despite how focal length calculation is defined. I presume that is taking into account this is an actual lens through which light would pass through both sides, and for a double concave, the result is half the measure of one side, hence 1000mm for this lens. The main point, regardless of how the numbers are determined, is that this spin lens measures to be shallower than advertised but still not flat, and that only makes it better!

Wish It had some raised sides.
Great spin surface. I've been able to achieve 13+ minute spins with my Vorso with a ruby bearing. The Vorso also seems to fit the holder as well. My only complaint is that when I allow an inexperienced person use it, they have a tendency to send the top skipping across the surface off the spin base. I wish there was just a little more lip to the edge, or some way to prevent the tops from getting away. For now I've just put the base on a larger soft terrycloth mat surface to "catch" the escaping top instead of letting it skip across my flat table.I've just been trying to encourage people to go easy and start the top on the surface. Kids however are a always the most interested and seem to have the most difficulty. It's still a toy in the end and meant to be played with and it's a great conversation piece. Overall, wonderful piece, and I do enjoy it.

High quality showcase for Top.
Show off your metal top with this classy piece of furniture! Got one for my expensive top grade machined brass top. The glass saucer insert is concave and the my top gradually circles towards the middle eventually after a minute or so. The one I got was walnut and is quite nice to look at. Has four holes, one in each corner for a resting place for very tiny tops. Did not fit my regular sized slightly taller than one inch top. I could bevel out the holes, but I only have one heavy brass top. It does fit my top but not perfectly, it is a tad higher up and doesn't sit flush with the wooden surface. Would buy it again, it is that nice of a coaster for a top. Buy!!!!

A nice addition to the collection.
Love the look, but the glass is a bit too recessed, which leaves a gap that annoyingly catches the top, slowing them to an early stop. May not be concave enough to center the tops, but I'm a skilled enough top spinner to avoid it most of the time.

Glass off center
The spinning base looks nice and my tops spin well, but the lowest point of the glass is off center. I've attached a photo that shows the top spinning toward the left of the picture. Each red line is the same distance. So, the spinning base works; but if you like things symmetrical, you might be bothered by it.

Elegant design, smooth glass, but the center of concave not centered
The media could not be loaded. I bought this for my spin top and find it a good companion of the top. The design is elegant. The materials, the wood and glass, chosen are with good quality. The workmanship is excellent too. The glass can sit perfectly flat on the wood. There's not warpage or any sort of defect. However, I do find the center of the concave surface is not at the center. It's like at 1/3 of the diameter, so the top at steady state won't end up at the center. Also, I find the glass size is a bit small for clumsy top player like me. Too many times, the top ends outside or the groove between the glass and wood plate. I would suggest buying a bigger one.
