I was very excited to get my hairsticks, I placed my order on the 9th and wasn't supposed to get them until the 20th. My birthday was on the 21st so I was happy that I would have my product by then. They actually came 6 days early which was awesome and included a free gift and a personal handwritten note thanking me for my purchase. I cannot guarentee that you will get a free gift with your product (it is not advertised that you will get a gift with purchase) but I got my product early, it is exactly as described and the handwritten note was a nice touch, so I will be checking out more of their products.My hair is very thick and is also to the middle of my thighs (I am 5ft 7in tall), so I have a lot of hair. You can see in the pictures that the hairstick is a decent size for long hair and looks elegant in a bun. There is also a hole through it so you can add a charm if you like, (I do beadwork so I will be adding a charm I will update photos before September 2020). When I put my hair in a bun it is extremely thick and I was afraid my wooden hairsticks (see my reviews) would break or be damaged so I wanted to find a durable hairstick. That doesn't mean I don't wear the wooden ones, I just do a different hairstyle with them. The hairsticks in the photos are aluminum and very durable, I think I can say unbreakable. My bun is very thick and I maneuver the hairstick through it seamlessly. Would definitely buy again, and I do recommend this hairstick.

As the other reviewer noted, the color is a bit different, at least on my monitor. It's a deep olive green. I took a picture under indoor lighting that may help you out. Maybe the anodizing process produces a range of greens, I don't know. What I do know is the hair stick is beautiful, durable, and the perfect size and shape for holding hair in place. I had purchased one of the other metal spirals, which I love, and wanted to give this one a try. It's about an inch shorter than the flatter metal spiral and a bit wider. Both shapes are elegant and hold hair well. The shorter length means less of the stick will be exposed in your finished style. I think this one holds hair a little better, since the spiral goes all the way around. One tip, if your hair really grabs it, is to twist it for removal, sort of like removing a screw. Just one holds a bun very securely for me, but your mileage may vary depending on your hair. While you can't expose wooden hair sticks to harsh conditions, this is practically indestructible, both for styling and wear in harsh conditions, like seawater or a treated pool.

I LOVE the metal hair sticks from JWL. They are strong but lightweight, hold ALL of my hair for at least 10 hours with no product, wet or dry hair (nearly 3’ long, stick straight, and slippery) without a single adjustment all day, are long enough to go through a bun but don’t stick out so far they get caught on things or poke me, and look nice for work while actually doing the job (I’m an early childhood teacher - lots of bending over, dancing, running, etc. I even use them when I do yard work!) Bonus I don’t get headaches from these like I do with ponytails and hair ties, which always need frequent adjustment for me. I have a few different ones from JWL I bought a few years ago and they all still look brand new. From order to arrival was just under a week. I highly recommend any of these hair sticks to anyone with long and/or difficult to style hair. (I bought one for my sister who has thick, curly hair and she loves it just as much as I do.)

The media could not be loaded. The best hair stick I've purchased to date! Before I found this product I was using a large aluminum crochet hook which was the perfect size, while searching amazon for aluminum hair sticks I came across this. I admit it took awhile before I finally ordered it because of the cost, but I have to say that it's worth every penny. You get a nice design, thick, sturdy, strong, smooth hair stick. The tip is blunt not sharp like others I have which can be deadly. The length of the stick is perfect, no antennas sticking out of my head! I do not use this hair stick the traditional way because my hair is to thick I must use a tie to hold hair in place then insert hair stick in loops which works extremely well. It's just like a barrette! I won't be using my other sticks because this one is the absolute best for my hair! I highly recommend!

These look great and are very heavy duty with the emphasis on the "heavy." The spirals do help hold them in place, but the taper creates some painful tension as they are inserted and the weight of them means that a looser wrap doesn't stay put in my silky hair. I'm also not crazy about the holes. The quality is very good, but I think these will make their way to someone with lots of thick hair. A slimmer, less tapered model without holes would be perfect.

These are very good hair sticks! The twisted, tapered design really helps hold them in place. I have very thick hair, so two work wetter than one, but one alone will hold it for a little while. I love that they are short, so not sticking out past my head threatening to poke somebody's eye out! The end is just sharp enough to go through without snagging hair, but not so sharp as to be a deadly weapon. The top edge is actually a little sharp though, so it would be nice to have that a little more rounded out. I will totally buy more of these to have as backups for when I misplaced these ones.

looks emerald green in the picture; received stick was olive green. Other than that, I love this product.
