I would say that if you're replacing the left stick it's fairly straightforward, but if you're replacing the right stick it's far more tricky. There are lots of small connectors, screws, and film cables to worry about. There are great youtube tutorials available, watch those, follow them. You will need a fairly small philips head screwdriver and a 2mm Y driver, I'd also grab a cocktail stick for prising those little tabs and connectors and some fresh thermal paste (for heat sink, or snack).
