Excellent build
This knife is well made, fit and finish are excellent. No seems visible on the sheath. Capable of becoming extremely sharp with a little work. Very pleased with the product

Really nice tanto!
This is a light, well made, beautifully balanced blade well worth the price. I do have some nitpicks, however. They involve the kissaki, which is the hardest part to get right. First, the right side yokote is about 1/8 inch further back than the left side. Second, the yokote on the left is not quite vertical although it is straight. Third, neither side was polished but left matte, which totally obscured the boshi. Some metal polish helped highlight the hamon a bit. It also highlighted the grinding marks and scuffs. It kind of stands out more because of the very nice polish of the rest of the blade but it's not a deal breaker. The hamon is nice but you do have to catch the light just right to see it well. The wood of the saya and tsuka is beautiful and holds the blade very securely. Some areas of the koiguchi do stand a little proud but not visibly - it has to be felt. The join itself is almost invisible. You have to give a good push to completely seat the blade and firm tug to draw it. I just read in the questions that the tsuka is not removable - I hope that's not true as I was planning on putting a traditional tsuka on but haven't tried taking it off yet.The blade came sharp but not shaving sharp and still isn't even after stropping but slash at something and it goes through effortlessly. Overall, it's a very good value for an outstanding, if not perfect, tanto. I think I'll keep it.😊

For those who will actually use the Tanto
For starters, I have used this Tanto outside of almost any expected uses, and I was pleased (after I sharpened it). It came decently dull, and with the 1/4 inch of blade at the tip about half the width of the tip of a fork. I bought some whetstones, and an hour of sharpening it was sharper than any razor I had ever touched, cut myself just feeling the blade to see how well I did. I proceeded to use the knife for weeks with no problems. I struck cedar and oak with it thousands of times, Sheath got loose, I was gonna make it tight agin but I broke it in half. It was shiny until I stabbed through a lemon, so I’ll have to polish the blade. but yeah, it’s cut through erosion matt’s, 3” diameter cedar branches, oak, my gloves, and a whole lot more after sharpened. Edge retention is great, after so much use it’s still sharp, i used it for construction and land clearing uses. also the whole blade moved about an 1/8th in in the handle, so there no longer aligned

Great Value!
Solid build, tight fitment, great hardwood for the handle and sheath materials. The hamon is real and we’ll done! The edge needs a bit more attention. Not well sharpened. At least not as well as I could sharpen it. Blade finish is good but it can be improved upon. For the price is not bad at all.

Excellent quality. Real Hamon
Absolutely perfect knife. Quality consistent with 250$ tantos. The steel is top notch quality and it’s beveled and sharpened perfectly. This knife certainly upholds the Japanese tradition of sword making. I’ve never had a blade with a real Hamon before it’s awesome. Slices a watermelon in half with ease.

Garbage
Received with the handle cracked like many others who have purchased. Handle is glued together, and appears any environmental changes will cause the cheap glue to crack. Became a danger hazard to use if the handle fully cracked off.

Good product, bad seller.
It came quite dull (just the bevel, no visible grind). It sits very sturdy in the handle. The saya and the handle are very smooth and perfectly flush with the horn rim. They fit together nicely with just the friction of the habaki and the horn; it takes about 7 lbs of force to pull mine apart. the inside of the saya however has no lining and if you do not pull toward the spine as you (un)sheath the blade will cut pieces out of the saya and dull very quickly. I would give four stars for this product if it was not for my shipping being late and the seller thus far (about a week) ignoring my inquiry about the ETA.
