Best first holographic sight
Amazing upgrade. I was very pleased with the solid construction. The glass is very clear and the holographic sight is easy to acquire. Sighting it in was very easy. Running this on an AR15 mounted above the ejection port.

Great optic, holographic sights are the way to go
I have this optic on rifle. I've been using it for about 6 months now and it performs well. It holds zero no problem. Not sure if the battery lifespan is as stated yet but so far so good. It rides a little higher on the picatinny rail than my Eotechs do and that is definitely a plus. You still have the use of iron sights in the lower third of this optic.

Eotech EXPS 3-0 vs Vortex AMG UH-1 Gen 2
I purchased both the Eotech EXPS 3-0 and Vortex AMG UH-1 to compare them. I received genuine products on both. I fully expected the Eotech to have the more crisp reticle, and boy I was wrong. Reticle - I have to say comparing them, the vortex hologram is easier to pick up with my 37 year old astigmatism eyes. The outer ring on the Vortex picks up much faster and gives me a slightly more precise center dot. The reticle has a slightly brighter color compared to the Eotech. The Eotech reticle is very slightly more blurry, which is a lot if you have astigmatism. I have previous experience with Eotechs and I know you need to focus on the target so that's not the issue. It's just not as crisp as the Vortex. This is a big problem when you need to shoot accurately. Under a magnifier both will be more clear due to the diopter on the magnifier. Battery Life - CR123A on both. 1500 hours on the UH-1, 600 hours on the Eotech. 8 hours auto off Eotech, 14 hours auto off Vortex. This is an advantage for the Vortex if you want to leave it on while you sleep or if you are LEO you can turn it on for a work shift. Glass - I spent a lot of time looking through both of them in various lighting conditions. The UH-1 has a very slight blue tint that isn't really noticeable - I have to really try hard to tell, but that bluish notch filter is part of what gives it a significantly better battery life over the Eotech. The Eotech is a little more clear. Both have a little bit of excess adhesive around the glass. Size - the Vortex looks huge, but is actually smaller in every dimension except for the hood. It can also mount farther forward on the upper receiver, and leaves 1 more rail slot available compared to the Eotech. Price - The correct price for the Vortex is $500. Some companies are taking advantage of the scarcity of the UH-1 and I don't blame them. Check around as they pop up at Academy for the correct price. Its about $175 cheaper than the Eotech(which is not the main factor when you want the best but I'll happily take it). Warranty - Vortex has a no questions asked forever warranty. If you shoot your sight with a 12 guage and then boil it in a pot of acid, Vortex will replace it. I take care of my stuff, but it's still nice having that peace of mind when dealing with electronics. Eotech is kind of a poor company if you need customer service. They really don't stand behind their product beyond 2 years, and they make that clear when you open the box. Imagine the service you get at the DMV. L3 doesn't care about their civilian customers. They are essentially government company. Aesthetics - Everyone knows looking cool is the most important thing, so if your gun is a instagram model you should probably consider the Eotech. Overall I can say the Vortex is a superior optic with a better price and warranty.

Outstanding combat optic with almost no parallax shift!
I've seen a lot of fishy online reviews of this optic but unlike paid influencers saying it's the best when they have barely shot it and shill smear reviews paid for by competitors saying it sucks because blah, blah brand is what their man crush uses I've been running two of these optics on a SCAR-17S and a Mk18 for close to 4 years now and they have delivered in ways that other optics can't. From the panoramic "Big Screen" field of view to the pin-point precision of the 1 moa center dot to the little 'Stargate' triangle at the bottom that eliminates "height over bore" issues at CQB distances this "Brick' has what it takes to be a top tier weaponsight. Mine have undergone 2600rds of 7.62x51 on an "optics munching" SCAR-H and nearly 4000rds of M193 5.56x45 on my little Mk18 clone without missing a beat. The built-in QD mount is ADM/MI quality, the enclosed emitters slough off snow and muddy water like a champ and with the Vortex 6x Micro Magnifier I have made consitent 2-4moa 650 meter groups on IPSC mini silhouettes without going off the paper multiple times. My two complaints initially were the ever so slightly "blinky" refresh rate and a dim smudgy image through my ancient PVS14(64LPI) night vision monocular. The dim smudgy night vision image was fixed by removing the polarizing filter that the previous owner had installed on the PVS14 back in 2004 and the blinky refresh rate has yet to induce any errors even in "go fast mode" it's keeping up with me even when I'm putting out 6 shots on 2 CQB tatgets in 2.39 seconds. I was told by a guy who is an engineer at Vortex that both the blinky reticle and lens coating that doesn't play well with polarized filters are why my UH1v2s have half again as much battery life as my EOTech EXPS3 despite having nearly identical lasers and very similar reticles. I wish I had bought a couple more of these when they were under $400 and people hadn't figured out how great these are but even at over $500ea they are still significantly cheaper than EOTech or Aimpoint T2s, M5s, etc and at least of equal quality with some value added features that make me prefer them overall. My favorite setup for both the UH1v2 and the 6x Micro Magnifier are to put them on top of two UNITY FAST 1913 HWS QD risers to achieve that "cool guy" 2.26" reticle height that makes passive shooting though head mounted night vision a breeze. I have the risers facing away from each other currently but have thought about flipping them around so there is less chance of them getting hung up on my sling if something weird happens during the excitement of a demanding shooting situation but we'll see if that's a winner with the magnifiers eye relief once I've tried it. Bye for now and enjoy your UH1v2 Huey..
