Panasonic LUMIX DC-G100VEB-K Vlogging Camera with LUMIX G Vario 12-32 mm f3.5-5.6 and SHGR1 Tripod Grip

I am a pro photographer who needs a small camera to compliment my full frame kit from time to time .Used MFT for some time for that purpose and happy with the quality . This is advertised as a vlogging camera but it produces the same quality stills as the GX9 and the G9 . Used with say a voigtlander 25mm 0.95 the results are superb. Of course it doesn't have in body stabilisation so if that is critical for you then it could be an issue - I can use my non stabilised 25mm fine wiht this -I haven't seen camera shake yet and with the ridiculously good ( for the money 12-32 and 35-100 they come wiht lens based stabilisation so that is covered.This isn't a cut down G9- I have had that camera and it is more sophisticated and it had weather sealing - but there is the the thing, for 95% of the images I use it for does the job . And it gets exactlty the same results as the G9 while being half the size - a pocket rocket and very good in my opinion for stills as well as video at which is excels.

This camera gets a bad press but my experience of it is positive, the sensor is capable of very high quality images, the viewfinder and screen are really good, the controls are simple but effective, I ditched the cheap 12-32 lens and use either prime lenses, 15mm and 30mm macro or the bigger 12-60 F3.5 zoom which sits well on this camera.All in all a great little camera for stills, I have used the video function once, not in 4k, and the quality is good enough.

Arrived with bits missing (no cables). The box security seal had been broken and oversealed. Looked like a demo camera or a customer return. Returned for a refund.

It is a lovely little camera, I initially bought this for its video capabilities. But the electronic image stabilisation provided to heavy a crop especially in 4K. The image stabilisation leaves a lot to be desired and the auto focus tends to hunt a lotI think the Sony ZV 1 is probably a better bet, although that needs a wide angle converter for decent vlogging, but the image stabilisation on that is far superior and the autofocus is spot on.Panasonic need to make a lot of improvements on the G100, perhaps in a new model.

Panasonic make great cameras... I have had a few. This is an excellent, small 'hyrid' camera. It can do great videos although it does have some limitations. I like it because it is small.I have 2 superb Fuji cameras but I bought this because I want to buy some cheap but quality micro four thirds lenses. It is fun to use and easy to carry.

Contrary to the bashing this camera seems to get all over YouTube, I find it a joy to use and the results are superb. I am predominantly a stills photographer with occasional use for video. With that in mind, I haven't done an exhaustive review with regard to it’s video capabilities. However, in use for video, shooting educational music lessons, it has performed really well for my needs. Auto focus was good and as I use external mics, the audio was excellent.From the point of a very portable stills camera, it is this are I feel it really excels. Yes, I know it is marketed as a Vlogging camera and as such I think its capabilities have really been undersold.Yes, it doesn’t have the IBIS like my GX80/85 but the lens based system is more than adequate and if using fast primes, I don’t really feel any real need anyway; I never had this previously and if you know how to use a camera generally….with regard to exposure control, its not an issue.The EVF is far better than the field sequential one on my GX80 but not as good as, say, the G9 as its not OLED.The images this little camera is capable of, are exactly the same as the higher end models like the G9 or the GH5 etc. the beauty is in the sheer portability…..with a small prime like the 20mm or 17 1.8 or the 15mm 1.7, its almost pocketable and perfect for hiking or as a travel camera.If you’re after a small, light micro 4/3rds camera, don’t overlook this. It’s a very capable little camera and at a really good price point now.Highly recommended.

Panasonic kind of mis-marketed this camera, as it makes the perfect small travel camera. In many respects it’s a better travel camera than it is a blogging camera. Unfortunately however my time with it was limited, as the one I received had a faulty articulated screen, forcing me to return it for a refund.
