Works like a champ with one nvme on the pcie slot
It worked like a champ for one NVME drive on the PCIe slot. I apparently didn't read the description well enough, because I thought that it would run both NVME drives through the PCIe slot, but the second NVME is connected to the motherboard through a SATA cable, which the motherboard I bought this for doesn't accommodate. For the price however, this is fine.

Works as a server boot drive
I paired this with a Kingston 500gb nvme ssd, works great as a boot drive.

Doesn't work and appears used
This adapter arrived with the packaging opened and visible fingerprints. Appears used but most importantly would not work in any of the configurations.

Cheapest upgrade effects highest boost in performance
I populated this card with a $50 Crucial P2 500GB SSD. The configuration was recognized by Window 10 immediately after initializing and formatting, as if it was a mechanical hard drive. This configuration works very fast when copying from and to a mechanical hard drive. When the copying is from and to itself, it is lightning fast. It is simply not measurable by observation. There are other interface card for other type of SSDs with specifications showing they are much faster, but then you will have to pay much more, worry about cabling, as well as heat dissipation problems, all for a further increase of performance that I do not need. My primary use of this configuration is as a "scratch pad" to hold video or graphic files when they are being edited, encoded, or zipped.

Make sure your motherboard has an x4 slot
Specifically ordered an x4 slot card for the performance, but failed to double check if there is actually an x4 slot in my motherboard.
