Works properly upon initial install
Find yourself a youtube video. If you're handy and have the right tools ready to go, it's a 30 minute process at most.I did it in about 30 minutes including having to remove the door panel twice because the first time I forgot to reconnect one of the harnesses and it fell behind the door.Tools needed:10mm socket with long extenderTorx bit (I think its a T25, fairly big)small flat screwdriverplastic pry-bar (I used a bicycle tire remover).flashlight (yes, even during the day)Door panel comes off with 3 10mm bolts hidden behind plastic covers, several plastic pop clips around the sides and bottom, and then lift it up off the door to remove. Pop out the switch panel and remove connectors, disconnect wire pull attached to door handle. The actuator is attached at 6 points: Torx bolts to door, 3 metal rods, the pull cable and the wiring harness.-Drop a flashlight into the bottom of the door so you can see better.-Take a picture of the actuator in the door so if you get lost, you can remember how everything is attached.-My suggestion after doing this is to first disconnect the rod attached to the yellow clip (hint, the clip opens by pushing the tab towards the OUTSIDE of the car).-Then unclip the rod attached to the key. Don't try to unhook it from the actuator. It is connected to a red plastic clip up at the top and can be removed by pushing the rod towards the BACK of the car.-Remove the torx bits.-Now you can move the actuator around within the door to unclip the pull cable and the wiring harness. The wiring harness is released by sliding the red plastic tab up. 2 rods will still be attached to the actuator, the key lock rod and the one going up to the lock indicator. Remove all from the door.To reinstall:-Attach the key lock rod and lock indicator rod to the new actuator-Slip the lock indicator rod up into its position in the door and attach the key lock rod back to the red clip.-Attach the wiring harness and cable pull-Bolt the actuator to the door with the torx bolts-Attach the door handle rod to the yellow clip-Reattach door panel with all wiring harnesses and the cable pull

Driver door open.
On my wife’s 2008 Silverado she locked it one night and the next morning the alarm was going off. This happened several times in the next two hours and there was no horn chirp when you locked the truck with the fob. The interior light also quit working when you opened the door and when locked there was a car and lock icon showing on the instrument panel. When cranked and put in reverse the driver door open message appeared. This item fixed all the issues. It’s a little tricky to install but there are several YouTube videos and I recommend watching several before attempting this repair. One video and the only one that gave this tip was to remove the bottom bolt of the window regulator and bump the regulator back to give you room to work was really helpful.
