We used it for a picnic umbrella for our eclipse-viewing excursion with friends. It does the job. Does not seem in any way flimsy. I have heard some complaints about this type of device not having a closed bottom end on the holder for the pole. If that's what you need, buy one that says it's for driving around with a flagpole in your bumper, not one that's open so you can slide a pole through.I don't doubt we'll use it again for more picnics.

There is a lot of movement on very windy days but because of the length that is expected. It seems to be very high quality and I love that it is long enough that I can have my tailgate down with this setup and don't have to install my umbrella in the soft sand and worry about it blowing away!

This gadget is excellent. Fits the bill perfectly. I use it for fishing so I can sit on the tailgate. I bought an authentic Ford Oem 9 foot umbrella for it.

Seem solid for the price works well now I can use a real umbrella other than the flimsy little ones that you screw in the sand but still wondering what are those extra bolts for unless it was a mistake from the manufacturer

In addition to holding an umbrella, I also use this hitch mount as an antenna mast mount for ham radio operation. Very sturdy and extends far enough out for my back hatch to clear the vertical pole it's holding.
