1998 TJ: Night & Day difference
So, I bought this for my 1998 TJ. Sahara, automatic, 3.07 gears, 32x11.50-15's, 3" lift. After the cussing and anguish of trying the "remanufactured" boxes from the local auto parts store (AND trying to convince the husband that the 'rebuilt' box is junk), I decided to just bite the bullet and exercise the credit card. Background (for those who may be in the same boat): the Jeep started having handling issues... wow, strange right? For a Jeep? Anyway, found trackbar issues, replaced trackbar with very reputable unit. Hmm, still wanders. Hey, found upper balljoint starting to go on driver's side, okay, I'll deal with later, it's not gonna fall apart just yet. Maybe it's the (probably worn out OEM) steering box... replaced with "reman" unit. Well, that thing didn't feel right from the get-go. Stiff, difficult to steer left, and God-help-you if you had to turn right (about 40deg of 'dead' steering). Had alignment done 2 days later, found toe-in waaaaaay out. Corrected. Better! But WTH is up with this steering??? Cue the Borgeson steering box.........WOW, what a difference!! In a nutshell, it's awesome. Maybe it's because I was dealing with worn out stuff for a while? Well, I really don't care, this thing is great! If you're wondering about the 12.7:1 ratio, I was wondering, too, until I drove it. It's definitely more responsive, but not to the point of being dangerous. But, I would say this: just be sure that your stuff under the front is fairly up-to-snuff, because I can assure you that you can take the steering box out of the equation. Anything else that is a little off will make itself known (ie, my currently bad balljoint). But holy-geez... smooth, even steering, no wandering (other than the occasional 'hello' from that balljoint). I will NEVER buy another "remanufactured" box. It's just not worth the hassle to change something out 2 or 3 times, only to get someone else's problem to begin with. This box, the 800130, has 4 mounting holes. my '98 TJ has 3. No problem, everything lines up, the 4th hole isn't used/seen. It fits a tad bit tighter at the top, where the lines bend over, and there is a little flap of rubber / plastic that makes contact with one of the lines. I didn't NEED to do anything with it, but will occasionally do a look-see to be sure that nothing is wearing weird. I actually left my lines a bit loose on a test fit, so that I could get them oriented correctly off to the side, as this box is designed different, and I didn't have a reference point, then lowered it back down and tightened them up. This box WILL fit, although I definitely spent more time trying to get it in place. ADVICE: get an 18mm flare nut wrench, it makes life easier and you can tighten things down without rounding off the fittings! AND make sure you have some replacement o-rings for the lines. I replaced mine, 'cause I don't want to have to take this SOB out again for a leak that I could have prevented. Borgeson does NOT supply these with the box, BTW. Part # 26001594 (GM #). You need 3 (2 for the box, one for the pump side).Sorry for the long review, but for anybody with a Jeep, I'm hoping that this is of some help!

So far so good on 98 Jeep TJ
Installed this on my 98 Jeep TJ with 4" lift and 35" tires. I didn't want a cheap reman and I didn't have the $300 more that some of the new ones cost so I tried this one. So far it feels awesome and installed without issue. I haven't taken it offroad yet and I'll edit review if anything changes. I plan on installing a power steering filter, cooler, and a larger remote reservoir.

Much improved steering
This gear box changed the steering from very sensitive to the more modern steering control. It's like a totally different car now.

Cool upgrade
Installed on a 1971 Camaro with the rag joint , reused everything else. Had to grind down one bolt. I was tightening it with my Milwaukee 3/8 stubby impact and almost drilled it into the box lol. Feels very smooth .

WOW best money spent so far on my 73 Nova
Purchased to replace my old worn out on and WOW! Nice and tight now I can stay straight in my lane no play at all. Installation was easy just remember to center the turning radius.

Great Price
This is an excellent Steering Box for the price. The quick ratio steering is as good as the stock unit and improved my steering as expected.
