Old school thermostats work fine
My fancy battery powered, infinitely programmable, semi-smart thermostats have been making me crazy for years... these simple, affordable, set it and forget it units only need a simple adjustment once or twice a year.

Welcome back analog, good by digital.
The digital thermostat that was installed by our utility at no cost several years ago, was never really of high quality. The vinyl covered flat push button screen was something out of the mid 80's it seemed. It was never very responsive, you had to really push hard on it to make any adjustments, and eventually, actually rather soon after installation, the vinyl started cracking under the pressure of where the push buttons were. Several of the buttons just stopped working all together. Luckily not the most important ones. It was always a few degrees off. And the utility had the ability to cycle it when they deemed necessary on peak usage. That always has kind of bothered me. I've known the thermostat was needing an upgrade, and obviously so did the utility. They offered a new Google thermostat for only $60.00. A pretty good price, but here's the catch, I had to sign a waiver to give the utility even more control over my usage. So I thought, man I miss that analog device, do they even still sell them. And boom, I found this Honeywell thermostat, and ordered it. It works great, and is accurate, and we have full control, at least at the thermostat level, of how we want it set. My wife likes it even more. She loves the simplicity of the old style, just point the needle where you want it, and it's done.

Great little thermostat control.
I love the simplicity and ease. Good old fashioned user friendly and fast. Do not want nor do I need any smart stuff. Just turn the furnace up if I want it up, and turn it down if I want it down with a split second nudge. It tells me the temperature and that’s all I needed. I know I’m in control and can not be shut off by someone hacking into my smart house controls and system. No 45 mins reading the directions and trying to connect it to my phone or anything else. Literally just the flick of a finger and mission accomplished.

Simple is better and this works
Simple non-digital replacement thermostat that work with heat and A/C.

Set it & forget it
Had one like it originally & it got broke. Bought a battery powered digital, programmable unit. Constantly changing batteries in it.. pffft, get another one of these ole reliable units & fa-get-about-it

Temp Controller
My thermostat started acting-up, and decided to replace it. My home Air Conditioner is an older unit without all the bells and whistles, so I just needed a basic thermostat for my unit. I looked and reviewed quite a few but most were made in "China." I found this one that was made in Mexico. Their products are made well so I chose this controller. Not disappointed, it works great and ease to install. I am quite satisfied.

Honeywell Home CT87N1001/E1 poorly redesigned former workhorse
Skip to the bottom to read about the problem This redesign was completely unnecessary and is so inherently flawed that, in the old days, In an American factory, the first inspection of the first unit would have been dismissed as defective and several heads would have rolled for letting it get that far. And in a union shop, union guys would have been enraged and probably refused to make them in the first place which is why many American companies are PROUD to pay their people the big bucks. That's how bad these are. It's not merely a "flawed" design. It's an inherently *defective* design. Purchased used, from Amazon Warehouse. I noticed, right out of the plastic bag, that the top cover wasn't seated properly. The reason is a defective redesign of what was once the most reliable piece of equipment. Whether the damage was caused by someone trying to install it or in the factory on assembly, I have no idea. I'm going to fix and "frankenstein" mine because I'm a tinkerer but, as it was designed, there's a pretty good chance installation will bugger up the *required* electronic connection when putting the cover on so, if you just like the looks and have to have it and want to use it anyway, get 3 but don't get a "3 pack" because if there's only one good one, they may not let you send the defective ones back. Chances are, a 3 pack will contain at least one survivor but if you only need one - what then? To refund, you'd have to send back the "3 pack" you purchased. It's actually a very clever - though corrupt - way to get rid of a whole bunch of stock of an extremely bad design. One must also consider that if one ever has to remove the cover after installation, you have that whole problem of getting it back on without rendering it useless. The problem: Taking the cover off opens a cheap and delicate 6 pin electronic connector that must then be reconnected - blindly - when one replaces the cover and if it doesn't go on perfectly straight the first time, seating the cover will bend whatever pins get caught outside their holes. It also appears that in trying to force the cover to seat properly and catch the latch, the plastic of the female side of the connector on mine was damaged and a small piece of that plastic is lodged down inside it blocking the hole of the pin I straightened. And it is an electronic connection so we're talking about very tiny pins and very tiny holes. If you opened 10 brand new pieces, I'd bet that at least 3 of them will have bent pins and if you reassembled them and opened them again, I'd bet the number of bent pins would double. Buy at your own risk. If you're like me and don't read all of the bad reviews until you discover what you were sent doesn't work, you'll be left with the dilemma of either eating the money you spent or sending it back with the very real possibility that it will simply be shipped to someone else, compounding the problem of landfills that are quickly filling up with cheap, defective products.

We replaced my parents programable thermostat with this manual round one. The programable thermostat became too confusing for my 87 year old parent to use and so far, he considers this less complicated and more user friendly. It was easy to install and works perfectly with his older furnace. Would highly recommend for aging parents or anyone who wants a no nonsense thermostat.

Simple design and accurate readings. Easy operation, no batteries to worry about. Could not be happier going back to non programmable and non wireless device.

I got this for my rental as the local hardware stores did not carry any. Of course after a couple of months, my local stores had them for about 25% cheaper. Its a basic thermostat controller, on/off, should not be so pricey.

Installed this yesterday and already love it. Discarded that pesky programmed piece of garbage. Now I just set it at 70 when I get up and turn it down to 55 at night when I go to bed. Simple. No batteries needed and temp is right on.
