A: I can't speak specifically for your "older model" but I've connected these lights with some I bought from a different brand a few years ago. I just made sure the connector pin and voltage was the same.

**Q: how do i fix my lights? half of them are a different color and i’m not sure what to do?**
A: there might be on the strip, 4  metal things disconnected. try putting them back together and it should work. they are labeled r g b

**Q: Can you cut the strips without messing up the lights?**
A: yea there’s certain places that u can cut
