Original rating was 5 and is below. After a few months of experience I changed my rating to 3. The grip of the plug has weakened and the device slips from its position. Also the magnet is not as strong as it should be and the phone will fall off the device on a bumpy road or going over railroad tracks. My new favorite is one that fits into the CD slot. Magnet seems stronger and it leaves the air vent uncovered.The best of several phone holders I have tried. Its effectiveness will probably depend on the vent design in your car. Includes a magnetic plug that pushes on to vent vanes in the dashboard. The plug has both narrow and wide openings to fit different sized vanes. The wide slots fit my F-150; the narrow slots fit my Hyundai Sonata. Also included are two very thin metal plates, one round and one rectangular. They can stick on to the back of the phone, or as for me, between the phone and its protective case.I have a Galaxy Note 4 which is a bit heavy. I put the metal plate between the phone and case, not wanting to mess up the outside of my case. In the F-150 the phone first flopped down and sometimes fell. I corrected that by turning the vanes vertical. In that position the phone held quite securely.The vanes in the Sonata are vertical only, so the device works fine there.I have no trouble removing the phone from the plug. The magnet seems quite strong and I think it might be hard to pull the phone off if the metal plate was on the backside of the phone or the case.The only downside is the phone does block air coming thru the vent. It's a very good price for a very good device.

Works pretty good, and for most phone is probably fine, I however have an LG G4, which this claims to work with, and I am having problems.This came with 2 metal pieces for me to put in/on my phone for the magnet to work with. 1 square one that is a little larger, and one round one that is small.The square one doesn't fit properly between the phone and a case, because of how the LG G4 is shaped. I was able to make do with my case not fully on, but 'close enough'. This however would block my NFC chip if I had it between the Case and the Phone. I tried to place it between the battery, and the back piece of the phone, which fit perfectly, however once the back piece was put back on, and my case put back on the magnet was not powerful enough the phone up, frustrating!So I started using the smaller piece. This does fit between the Phone and the Case, and doesn't block the NFC chip! However, because the round piece is so small, pretty much the exact size of the magnet, it makes it a little difficult to find the 'sweet' spot when I put my phone up to the magnet. So sometimes when I am driving my phone starts to slide, or rotate off! A little frustrating!.In conclusion I wish this was more LG G4 friendly, and I wish the magnet was stronger!

This thing worked like a charm. I put the included metal plate between my phone and case. It is super thin so it fit without issue. I pressed the magnetic receiver in place in the vent, found that it needed to be lower in the vent so that the vent didn't sag, pulled it out and re-positioned it. It still holds great.I don't have to be careful when attaching it the magnet holds strong to the plate they include in the package. I can also rotate or slide it as needed without it disconnecting (as long as the plate is still next to the magnet, of course.).

Works, no need to buy expensive alternatives. It came with two pieces that you stick to your phone or case.I have a Nexus 6, just used the circular one on the back. The part that goes on the airvent has the magnet. Took a drive and had no problems (landscape and portrait). Perfect if you don't want to clutter your car like many other phone holders.

This is a fantastic car mount! Having one on the dashboard is not an option during hot season, because the phone gets too hot and it will eventually shut down. Now it sits near the AC outlet, making even easier to interact with the phone. The magnets are powerful enough that the smartphone doesn't move at all (tested on very bumpy roads).

Pretty sturdy, fits snugly in all my cars. Magnet system flaw is finding a way to comfortably apply a strip of steel to your phone. Always worry it will pull apart my vents. It's pretty strongly stuck on there. Cannot use vent when using mount.

I was skeptical about placing a mount in the vents of my car and putting the weight of my phone on it. This product works great and feels very sturdy. I've had this for over a month now and all concerns I had about clipping something to my vents is gone. The magnet is strong enough to hold my iPhone 6 Plus without problems. The magnets are also very thing have a sticky side to attach it to the inside of your case without problems. You can't beat the quality for the price.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S7 with a speck case, and needed a quick and easy solution to mount my phone when i use the GPS. I would definitely purchase this again. The only worry i have is the mount is rubber (where it holds onto the air vent) and when it gets really hot i'm concerned that it will warp and no longer be able to attach securely to the air vent. So i am keeping it out of the sun when not in use. So far so good!
