Elegant looks, bedside quiet, great support!
So as a quality winder it’s exactly what you expect. Great looks, ‘in case’ mounted touch panel controls of each of the 2 winders offering 3 rotational direction modes - clockwise, counterclockwise and bidirectional. More the user selectable turn per day (TPD) options it has are more than any watch you buy will ever need, and with a pause start. No need to reach around the back to turn off or pause. All your adjustments are right there front and center- and when turning - just nothing but quiet! So it’s a great winder. But wait there’s more…. Mine actually died after a few months, so describing what happened and its symptoms, I reached out to the included support email. Within a few hours support reached out to me, gave me several options to either DIY repair (assured it was easy) or wholly replace the unit. As a physical movement impaired disabled vet I opted for the latter. ‘No problem’ was the response. ‘We’ll ship you a new unit’. 3 days later I’m back in business. Any technology or motor can fail - how the vendor handles these is most important. I highly recommend this unit not because it does the winding any better than another. Rather the operational convenience and the stellar support. 10 week update... Unit is still dead quiet doing its 650 TPD bi-directional winding, and the more I use it the more impressed I am with the feature set and interface at this price point. If you go out a query how many turns your watch needs there is actually great variability watch to watch even within the same manufactures range. That this unit allows you to custom configure TPD and direction or bi-directional easily from the front touch panel is a stand out.

Quiet and attractive
We love it. It looks great in person, has good power cycle options, easy to use. Very quiet. Like PC cycling quiet. Lives in the bedroom and we don't even notice it working.

Good quality at a bargain price
I purchased two of these winders and have about one month of experience with them. Fit and finish of this dual watch winder is very good and it looks presentable atop even the best furniture. The key lock works well to keep curious hands at bay and the wall-wart power supply has a decently long cord that plugs securely into the back of the winder. Digital touch controls and displays for each independently programmable winding pad are easy to understand and read. TPD selection is broadly selectable from 650 to 2000 TPD in four steps, covering the basic ranges needed by most mechanical self-winding watches, from Rolexes to Seikos,in order to achieve a good state of wind without excessive wear (note that electro-mechanical watches like Seiko Kinetics may NOT be would properly by this winder). General winder layout is thoughtful with plenty of room for adult male fingers to work in when inserting and removing watches or for programming winding action. Both the external lock keyhole and power plug have substantial bezels that guide the key and power plug into proper alignment and keep them secure. The plexiglas viewing window is recessed into the polished wooden cover and wraps around from the top to the front without an intermediate frame breaking up the line of sight, as would be necessary if two plates of mineral glass were used. And it is not likely to shatter or do damage if a watch is dropped on top of it accidentally. Winding action is NOT silent, but is a reasonably quiet 10 dB at a few feet, per Chiyoda's very clear specifications. In a very quiet bedroom, winding action can clearly be heard. But it's not enough to disturb MY sleep. Your results may differ. Note that one of my two winders has less than half the operating noise of the other (it's about 3-4 dB quieter) - so not all of these Chiyoda winders performs alike, noise wise. A few things to be aware of are: 1. Since the winder is touch controlled and soft-programmed (not just a multi-position switch), it will stop during a power failure, will not resume winding and may even need to be reset to the proper TPD count by you, afterwards. This is not a problem for me as I keep a few watches on-line for daily rotation and am very likely to notice the winders have been reset by a power failure. Reprogramming them is very quick and easy. You may feel differently and may want a hard-switch programmed watch winder if this is critical. 2. Watch TPD rotation is approximate. While the digital display shows an exact count for the setting, actual number of rotations will vary a bit as the winder seems to time the winding period rather than counting actual number of rotations made. As a practical matter, this is of no consequence - an error of even +/- 50 TPD would have negligible consequences on watch performance and wear. 3. The watches do not always halt in an upright position nor do they always align with each other when stopped or winding. Most winders behave this way - only a few, and usually much more expensive ones, are "display aware" and always halt with the watches upright. 4. The winder is only active when each winding pad is first enabled, and then about each hour thereafter. So most of the time the winder is not in motion and is completely silent. Since I've had and used these Chiyoda dual watch winders for only about a month, their longevity is unknown. But I've found that all watch winders wear out, no matter the price. If it's not the motors its a proprietary watchpad/clamp or something else. I expect to get at least 3 years out of a good winder. Some have lasted much longer. And some less. For the price I paid (about $125) for this dual winder, it's an excellent value, is easy to use, works well and has very good workmanship and appearance.

Best Watch Winder Available
This is my 4th CHIYODA watch winder. I gave my second winder to my wife for her new Rolex. Years ago the seller was using a different motor and the winders were a constant problem for them. They switched to the Mabuchi Motors and replaced my first winder for free. I have been a fan ever since because they care about their customers. Over the years I have purchased several CHIYODA winders as gifts for family and friends. Everyone marvels at the beautiful wood and we all love the very high quality of the winders. I think the CHIYODA is the highest quality watch winder on the market. The pricing is remarkable for the quality. I will never purchase a different winder. I recommend this product with my highest praise. You will be completely satisfied if you purchase a CHYIODA watch winder.

Looks good on the outside. Not as good on the inside
I had this for about 2 months when right motor started making noise loud enough to wake me up. Contacted customer service. They were responsive enough and sent me a replacement motor with instructions on how to do it. Motor arrived about 3 weeks later. After replacement the noise is less but now I can see that new motor spins slower than the old one. Also the wooden plank inside the case that holds the motor panel is split and only one side is holding it. If I could I would get it refunded. Not worth time, money and effort. Update: As other reviewers have mentioned the customer service is very good. They replied the same day (or night) and sent me a replacement motor with instructions on how to do it. It wasn't too bad and after replacing the motor the noise is gone and it works well. Hence bumping up to 4 stars.

Exactly what I wanted
I recently started wearing a watch again and wanted to avoid batteries. I found two automatic watches I liked for about $100 each. I also wanted a winder so they would always be ready to go. Since my watches are worth less than a car payment, I wanted an inexpensive winder as well; but I still wanted quiet, attractive, different TPD settings, etc. I am not disappointed. It’s beautiful ( I would prefer a different color, but that’s just me). It’s super quiet. I walked past it and realized “Oh, it’s turning.” I didn’t know it until I was right next to it. I read some people saying it’s noisy. Perhaps if it is placed in a thinner top table or stand and the vibrations are amplified like a soundboard in an instrument. That’s the only way I can think of the unit making more noise. It makes about as much sound as an electric clock. One feature I particularly wanted was separate pillows with separate motors. Both my watches are oversized (I’m 6’2”) and I read that sometimes, if one watch is on a pillow made for two, and that watch is heavy, the unbalance prevents it from turning with just one watch. No issues with this one. For me, it’s perfect. Everything, including both watches was less than $350. And everything works perfectly, without complications, without breaking the bank. Definitely recommended. Funny thought: Why is there a key? If it’s locked and someone wants to take a watch, the whole case is very easy to carry.

Beautiful, but twice did not work
I loved the looks of the winder, had high hopes and even ordered a replacement rather than simply returning the first one when it stopped working after few hours. The second one did the same thing, it started out ok but after several hours it just turned itself off. The exterior workmanship is superb, Cannot say the same for its electrical innards. When the electronics malfunction, it just becomes a pretty box.

Long pause is normal.
I've had this winder for about a week, and so far it's been great. The finish and craftsmanship are excellent. Mechanically it's working fine and is very silent. I don't have it in the bedroom, but it's right next to where I sit at my desk and I can't hear anything when it starts turning. I have both winders set to 650 and bi-directional. At that speed it winds about 14 times clockwise and then changes direction for another 14 times. This process takes less than a minute. If you do the math, that means it cycles about once an hour to reach 650 TPD. If you think it's not working, just make note of the position of your watches and then check back later. You'll see they're not in the same spot.
