if you loved the anime series as much as i do
if you loved the anime series as much as i do, this volume is a real treat. we finally get to see what happens after guts kills "phil," the snake-demon in the first episode. also, we get to know puck a lot more in this installment, miura's take on the old warner brothers cartoon style, angel on the shoulder. i love the way he plays with different archtypes from many different sources. this series is a legit piece of art that stands up to multiple viewings, and readings. it's the most expensive set of books i own, and it is worth every penny.

It is really good and you see where it all started
The first every manage for this series and you will see how much it improved from that point plus this is were it start to leave the movie

Having escaped the feast of the Godhand, Guts finds himself among friends. For the moment. The Skull knight tells him what his fate will be: struggling. Guts prefers it to be VENGEANCE. He intends to destroy the Godhand and its demons. Helped by his giant sword, a cannon and his hatred, Guts takes the road. Guided by his sacrifice brand. This volume goes on where the third volume left to tell the story of the Band of the Hawk. In this one Guts and his elf confront the elves from hell. It is always amazing how Guts can fight creatures that slaughter anybody else.

Used, but good condition
Quite a bit of adhesive residue on the cover, back cover especially. Was able to remove most of it with an eraser, and there is a plastic protective sleeve to help with wear. Pages were all good, and of course the material is sublime.

Excellent series!
Berserk is an incredible Manga to start reading. It has excellent characters, an amazing and complex plot, and it's very intense. It is pretty violent but unlike some other media, Berserk is not violent for the sake of violence. Miura really captures the dark side of humanity in Berserk and while it is fiction and takes place in a medieval setting some of the issues are really down to earth. The main character has the most incredible will and is a very inspiring character as well.
