The Snow: A Supernatural Apocalypse Novel (Whiteout)

What a twist
Totally not what I was expecting in a apocalypse book. Really liked how Flint came up with a twist to draw your attention to the story, so you would keep reading to see what was going to happening to the characters. He had likable characters and the book was written really well. Can't wait to read the next book.

AMAZING!
I'm so glad I came across this book due to a suggestion from Amazon. The cover got me interested because when it comes to snow, something is bound to happen. Just by the cover and title, I'm glad to have purchased this for my Kindle. The scene of snow which I love, Grady who begins telling his tale about a single snowflake and knew what was up ahead over a gut feeling he had. He was right. Everything became chaos within hours of spending the 4th of July with his close friends, Jonas and Stone. The story leads you straight off to a heavy tension you didn't expect and wanted at the same time. This author is like another Stephen King in the making and I gotta say, I was unable to stop reading till I hit the end and purchased part 2 in need to find out what's going to happen. Great book! If you love stories based on snow and even supernatural thrill? This is the one! :)

good but!
I enoyed this book, was my first book bythis author and wont be the last as i will continue with this series. The but comes now, i knew this was the first book of a series of books but it seems to end mid story suddenly. So maybe the idea was to get more than one book out of one story, which is unusual because the next book is going to be about them continuing their journey, thats only just got underway, felt a bit cheated. Also men nearing there 30th birthday shouldnt have the gang name theyvhad when they were 12, its not cool so 4stars not 5.

Spellbinding!!!!
I am a huge Flint Maxwell fan! I have read "The Snow," and "The Dark Winter." Both books are excellent!!! So many surprises and suspense! I have ordered the third book and can't wait to get it!

Full of atmosphere and horror, what more could you want!
I love this book! The characters feel real, and I cried at some of the devastation as it happened. My true, most terrifying fear is being trapped within the endless cold. There is a stark reality to this book, and it feels entirely possible.

Excellent story
I really enjoyed that. Its well written, the characters are likeable, the situation is bizarre. It's not like every other book. I cannot wait for the second one. Hurry up.

Slow
I kept waiting for it to start.I took a look at the preview, looked promising, bought the three books. What a shame ,all I got was a way to detailed story of nothing of much interest. All the elements for a cracking good read, apocalyptic type weather, scary monsters, nice folks trying to stay alive and help others you even get a dog.But some how ,all that failed to bring an exciting story to the table.I gave up after starting the 3rd book,it was to painful and lack luster to continue with.Disappointing.

Underwhelming and perfunctory
"The Snow" was not badly written per se and there were the beginnings of a story and possibly some interesting character development but, in the end, if felt far too brief and was just deeply unsatisfying, like the opening chapters of a novel that promise little and deliver even less. I normally have a bit of a thing for Horror, Thriller or Sci-Fi stories set in an isolated snowy or icy landscape. They can lead to wonderfully oppressive tales. Unfortunately, that was not the case here.I listened to the audio book, but really regretted shelling out the extra cash. The narrator was fine and did what he could, but the work itself was so insubstantial that, when it ended, I found myself saying out loud "is that it?" For such a relatively brief story, what action there was came all too late and yet there was little suspense. It all felt underwhelming and perfunctory.I can't say that there weren't some interesting ideas and opportunities to develop the story into something more effective. As it is, it feels like a half-hearted first draft that needs so much more work to engage the reader or listener. I wish I could say that I felt involved enough to wonder what happened next, but I genuinely did not. Sorry.

Two for one
Apocalypse? Yes.Supernatural? No.That's my preference.Combining the two shouldn't work. But Flint Maxwell's apocalyptic books are the business. If he's a familiar name to you, then go and start this saga.If you're a newbie, meet a writer who makes ordinary people into extraordinary people.Big hint: prepare for a touch of Iain Rob Wright, but dialed down a bit.

Excellent
Brilliant read! Couldn’t put this down. Very different to the usual “Zombie Apocalypse” books, kept me reading until late in the night. Have also read the next in the series which is equally as good. I usually download my books to read on my Kindle and this is such good value as well as being an excellent story. Keep up the good work Flint. Highly recommended.
