Just right for third grade readers
Our class pet is a chameleon, so I'm always on the lookout for books at a child's reading level. The pictures are bright, the text is clear, and the paper is sturdy so it will last awhile in a classroom library.

Great book
Bought this book for an 8 year old boy who is interested in reptiles. He now quotes all kinds of info from the book. Would recommend.

Good snake book
My 8 yo son loves snakes. He wants books with facts, but he doesn’t want to be completely overwhelmed with information. This book fit the bill. Good pictures and great info.

beautiful and interesting
This book is well made with a sturdy paperback with a matte finish and beautiful photo. The binding is strong and the pages are standard weight. The font chosen is easy to read and printed in such a size that it is easy to see but you don't feel like they were trying to use up space. They were careful when crossing text over color blocks that the text was printed in a color that it was still easy to read, and they never crossed over photos. This book covered reptiles in general (like snakes) and specifically (like Corn Snake). Each reptile category teaches about those reptiles (having a pet turtle my kids loved the section about turtles and their shell) and at least one photo of the specific animal. The back of the book includes sources for more information, a glossary, index and about the author. This book has gotten a lot of use in my house, but to be honest the age range seems to be younger middle school. It was too difficult for my first grader to read alone, and my 2nd grader worked her way through but struggled with a lot of the special words. My 5th grader read it easily but would have liked more details and more facts that she hadn't already learned, and my 8th grader felt it was a "baby" book.
