Solid, Rugged Tool
The knife arrived very sharp. It is well built with a solid locking mechanism. Its great for smoothing pruning cut edges, opening bags of mulch, and just about any other use you can think of. I holster mine with my pruners in a combo case/holster. The fit was tight at first, but the pruners and knife fit well now that the leather has stretched. I highly recommend this knife and believe it is a great value for the craftsmanship.

Cheap
Wood handle has no finish and is rough and dented. Looks dirty and used. I know this knife and yours is poorly made.

Worth the price and useful.
This is a hefty solid knife for the price. The blade is thick and can take the prying when spreading a V cut for grafting. The curve keeps the blade on the stem. Good to bang around in the garden. The lock is stiff but may loosen with some lubrication and usage. The wooden scales are not finished, can be oiled or painted with your favorite color. I am going to paint mine fluorescent orange so I can see it easily when I drop it in the garden. The blade is sharp enough and should be sharpened regularly anyway for clean cuts for grafting. I use a simple kitchen sharpener and steel. The curve is easy to sharpen with a kitchen device, a flat stone is not needed for this knife since it will be cutting through woody material.

Nice Looking Product but Not Functional for Delicate Hands
Nice looking knife but not good for me. Could not close it which makes it unsafe for those that do not have strong enough hands.

Not the sharpest tool in the box
It's been hard to get this blade sharp, but the hook is really useful for getting around vines to remove cucumbers and zucchini.

Incredible value in a working tool!
OK, I'm no stranger to knives (have carried one in my left front pocket since second grade...over a half century ago) and I was looking for a curved blade to cut some trunk sprouts on five willow oaks out front. Our local big box couldn't help me so I turned to Amazon and after reading the reviews selected this model, despite being skeptical due to the low price.I couldn't be more pleased!Out of the box the knife looks like it means business. At first I was surprised that the blade, despite having a good bevel grind, did not feel very sharp, but after about 50 strokes on the kitchen steel I can shave the hair from my arm. So far, so good. This tool cuts small branches and dresses ragged edges beautifully. The curved blade let's you pull the blade through the cut, like a pruning saw but without the snag of coarse teeth against tender wood. The slicing blade cuts much closer to the trunk or branch than scissor-action shears, and rarely leaves a rough edge.Construction is rugged and no-nonsense. It's a working tool, so expect clean but brushed (not polished) metal surfaces and sanded but unfinished wood surfaces. These have zero effect on the tool's function, and I've seen worse craftsmanship on more expensive tools...just don't expect a collector's edition custom knife! The action is smooth and the lever lock solid. No slop or play in the fully-open blade. Unlike another reviewer, I had no problem operating the lever...about the same closing effort as folding a Buck hunting knife. Finally there is the small touch of the metal loop at the end of the handle. While it can be used to hang the knife on a nail or peg board, I tie a short orange twine lanyard to mine so it will be easier to find when I drop it in the leaves or tall grass. (Old Scoutmaster trick!). I love my Opinel camping knife, but as a yard and garden tool I like this knife way better...for less than half the cost. Great purchase so far...will see how the edge holds over time.

thirteen years and still works well
I am buying another:someone borrowed it, and broke the point. So, thirteen years on, I shall compare the new with the old. It has been a 'handy dandy ' tool. ( but it only took thirteen seconds for someone misusing it,.Ah well,Buy it,DrLucille
