Q: Is this similar to exploding kittens?

The game mechanics are similar in some respects, although I only played that game once. In this case you try to build a stable of unicorns getting to a certain number before everyone else. You don't get put out of the game though like exploding kittens.

Q: Is it truly 14+? Can it be adapted to younger players (fairly easily)? Or just forget it?

I am not sure why it is 14+. I think it would be fine as long as they can understand the rules and be fine being sabotaged. Just don't get the NSFW expansion pack :)

Q: I have the base game and all the expansions. Love it! but it doesn't' fit in the box... What has worked to contain your unicorns?

Other card games sell portable expansion and game pack carriers. Maybe when purchasing you can check the Unicorns deck sizes against the carrier to make sure.
