Perfect starter book set for babies!
I have been reading Karen Katz books to my daughter ever since our "Pat the Bunny" book bit the dust when she was only 4 months old (the binding was just too flimsy!) My daughter is now 13 months and I can safely say that Karen Katz lift-the-flap books are THE BEST choice for active/spirited babies and toddlers. Unlike other children's books, they are *very* sturdy, colorful, and teach children fine motor skills, as well as racial differences (African American, Asian babies are featured in the "Where is Baby's Belly Button" book). My daughter rips and pulls at the flaps on these books in her glee of me reading them to her...and, although they are very folded and crinkled up, all of the flaps are still in tact!!I also like Counting Kisses and Daddy Hugs, but I'd suggest buying the lift-the flap books like this set because they are so much more entertaining and hold the child's attention better. As a follow on to this set, I'd suggest the Grandma, Grandpa and Daddy lift-the-flap books, my daughter loves the Daddy one even though it's geared toward a little boy.I will be buying these books for all of my friends' baby showers, they make a perfect gift!

a beautiful introduction to the world of books
this book is fantastic for babies (a warm message, interactive & engaging flaps, easy and clear language, etc) but also my kindergartner loves reading this book -- and the words are well targeted (not too many silent E's, tricky blends ("ph", "th") or other challenging "tricks of English"... and the pictures match the words so even when kids can't sound the word out, they can look at the picture for a good clue, and the patterns and repetition in Katz's writing make for a supportive, constructive reading & learning experience.)These are top-notch, high-quality books that will excite -- and not frustrate -- your child as they enter the world of books and reading.

These lift the flaps are well worth the investment!
My kiddos have loved these Karen Katz books! I bought the set after my oldest fell in love with "Where is Baby's Belly Button"? Lift the flap books are such a great addition for littles!

Great books to read with 1 year old
Great books for 1 year old. “Where’s baby’s mommy” and “where’s baby’s belly button” are my daughter’s favorite. Mainly because the flip lifts are bigger. I agree with other reviewer saying the flip lifts are thin.

PERFECT FOR BUSY & TOUGH BOYS!
I have a 1 year old son who, until these books, would NEVER sit still long enough for me to read to him. I got one of these books for him ("where is baby's belly button") about 3 months ago, and he LOVED IT! The pages are cardboard, so he can't rip the pages out (which he normally does). The "flip-ups" are made of a thick paper so it's rather difficult for him to rip those out, as well. The can be ripped out, especially by rough & tumble boys like mine, but it takes some effort on their part, which is good considering other books get domolished in seconds. Anyway, after about 3 months, the flip-ups of the 1st book were mostly ripped out, but he LOVES that book, so I ordered the set of 3 books. Now, the flip-ups don't get ripped out (maybe one or two total of all 3 books), especially since my son is a little older now, and he now loves all 3 books. This is a GREAT product!

The Box of Fun is the best value if you are looking to ...
I ordered these for my 8 month old son. The Box of Fun is the best value if you are looking to buy more than 1 of Karen Katz Lift-the-Flap books. He loves lift-the-flap books, so I figured I would give these a try. He loves the illustrations and colors, and of course the flaps! We love to sit down and read these over and over. He even likes to lift the flap himself. Great books for children. I know he will love these for many more months!

Great for 2 + year olds and up!!
Seriously the best set of books I’ve bought. My 2 yr old LOVES these. We read all 3 before bed each night. She’s at the age where lifting the flaps is fun and doesn’t tear them off. I think 2 yrs is about the right age to start these books. The flaps aren’t super sturdy, but they won’t fall off or tear unless a toddler really grabs on to them
