Magic! Bottled Water Maker!
Magic! My city's water is pretty good - around 40 ppm total - but I wanted to see how close to bottled water quality I could get. For petty aesthetic reasons, I didn't want to get a Brita pitcher, and I wanted something I could put in a water bottle and take with me. These sticks seemed like a good option - I put one in my 2L Takeya water pitcher at home, and keep another in my metal water bottle that I take with me everywhere. It actually works. Haven't done a real dissolved solids test, but it tastes like bottled water now. The most objective way I could think to test it was to pour a friend a glass without them seeing the stick in my water pitcher. They asked if it was bottled!Would be interested in seeing how these hold up under actual dissolved solids tests.

Great
These are great. I exclusively use these. I fill either an old britta pitcher and a bigger glass pitcher using a couple filters. So much less waste. Water tastes great. As soon as the water stops tasting perfect you just follow the instructions on boiling them and then they work again.

Easy and effective!
These Kishu Binchotan Charcoal sticks were recommended to me by my doctor, and they are by far the easiest means to purify tap water. My guests were amazed that the pure-tasting water I was serving had come from the tap. I keep a stick in a 2-liter pitcher at all times, and simply refill the pitcher when it nears empty.

I think they work!
Easy to use. I keep them in my brita filter for additional filtering and I think the water taste is improved.

Looks weird, but it works!
Arrived quickly in a nice little box with the instructions printed right on it. Boiled one of the pieces for 10 minutes, let it dry, then dropped it into my nice new glass jug full of water and put it into the fridge. Water tastes great! Stick needs to be re-boiled after 2 weeks use, but that isn't too much maintenance at all. Nice to have something free of all the plastic and extra packaging that my old Brita filter had. Looks kinda cool too.

Perfect for 5-gallon pitcher!
I use these for my store-bought five-gallon water dispenser. I refill the glass jug using water from the tap and drop these cartridges in for the best water in Northern California and Phoenix; I’ve tried in both and been completely happy with results in both locations. I refill once a week on average and recharge the sticks every two weeks as the manufacturer recommends. I don’t believe you’ll be disappointed.

Effectively removes chlorine flavour
I've been using these for several years now, and am very happy with their performance. I moved from a city where the local, treated water was relatively light on chlorine, to a larger city where the water is heavily treated and noticeably chlorine-flavoured. After using the charcoal stick as directed, virtually all of the chlorine flavour is removed and the resulting water is as pleasant tasting as bottled spring water. Perfect for drinking and ice cubes, and with no unconscionable plastic bottle!

Not for pet water
I decided to put one stick in my catit water fountain for my cat to help purify her water and it had the opposite effect. I went to clean my fountain and I noticed a ton of orange little balls (bacteria) growing in the water and climbing up the fountain. It was a disturbing. Here is a picture of those balls after I dumped the filter out. I've never had these growing in the fountain before and it only happened when I put the charcoal stick in.
