Nikon D70s/D70 (Magic Lantern Guides) (Lark Photography Book) Paperback – August 1, 2004

I had to purchase the Magic Lantern Guide in order to understand all of the settings. Nikon manuals seem to be written by engineers instead of users and the menus in the camera are so deep and getting deeper in every new camera that is released. User options are discussed in the Magic Lantern guides and recommendations for the photographer are also given. Since getting this book, I have also purchased two more in the series for my Nikon D300 body pair. I went from D70-D70s pair to a D300 pair of camera bodies. I like to keep my backup body the same as my main camera body so that the chargers, cords, cables, batteries, camera settings and memory cards are all the same and compatible. If there is a problem remembering a camera setting, I can easily check the Magic Lantern Guide and not the Nikon manuals. I consider this entire series of Guides as essential and whenever I purchase a new camera body I also purchase a Magic Lantern Guide for that camera. They are so good at explaining everything and getting the camera to work the way I want it to.

Great redource

Wanting a DSLR that would work with my Nikkor SLR lenses, I purchased a fine D70s Nikon body that had experience at the hand of a previous owner. This book is providing me a very understandable 'how to use' my camera and I am enjoying it and learning something new every time I pick up the camera. I took it to my UPS store and had the book spirally rebound which makes it much easier to flip pages and read.

Much more useful guide than the Nikon manual for my DSLR camera. Simon Stafford's tips & suggestions were & are greatly appreciated. It would have been nice to have color illustrations/pictures option.

The title says it all -- this is a better-written re-write of the Nikon manuals, but you folks know how inscrutable they can be.We've found nothing new here, but at least we've spent a lot less time parsing the translation.

Outstanding guide for anyone still using a Nikon D-70/70s as well as their predecessor the D100, Despite being about 12 year old models they are excellent, user friendly cameras and this book does an EXCELLENT job as their guide. This was my second purchase so that I have one in my camera bag and one to stay home.
