One can get a decent roller ball for $5 or less, but without the pleasure of handling a fine writing instrument. I received the Scriveiner Black Lacquer Pen earlier today and was impressed by the elegance of its design. Its brass construction gives the right weight. The glossy lacquer finish and gold accents are first rate. The pen comes with a medium width ink cartridge (and a spare) which, together with the pen's capped design brings a formality touch. Highly recommended.

This is a beautiful inkpen. It writes smoothly, it's heavy duty and won't break easily, and is really nice to use. The colors are pretty as well. I have bought several, and may buy another.

This is a great pen. The weight is evenly distributed unlike similar pens which makes writing easier. I know it is a bit pricey, but after 2 weeks the quality is very good and appears to be worth the money. Does not feel cheap at all. I purchase separately Scriveiner blue ink refills 0.5. You should buy it and try it out.

I have been looking for a high-quality writing desk pen. I leave it at my workspace, and the weight, feel, and smooth writing are so good that I bought a second one for my backup workspace. It arrives in very nice packaging and has a high-quality feel all the way through.

Pen itself is gorgeous and feels nice right down to the satisfying sound when closing the cap. The ink is very quick drying but I have a few issues with it. At work I've noticed two things - the ink doesn't always come out evenly. Sometimes hardly any ink will come out. To get it to be consistent I have to write in a very particular way which is tiring for my wrist and hand. That makes it not very practical for me given how much I have to write for work. Adding to that I noticed on some types of paper the ink isn't just see through to the other side of it but will actually bleed through a bit. Given at work we have some books where we write on both sides of the pages that can be an issue. To use this pen long term, and I really want to as I absolutely love it otherwise, I'll have to find refills elsewhere which also fit within it.

I already have two Scriveiner fountain pens which I absolutely love, and wanted to get the matching roller ball in gold. Already having experience with their fountain pens, it was no surprise that this roller ball matched in quality and presentation. Today’s technology makes it completely affordable and pleasurable to write with high quality writing instruments without breaking the bank. Both pens easily match my experience with my Mont Blanc Meisterstuck 149 series pens (gifted to me years ago) which I’m passing down to family members. I still enjoy writing by hand in this digital age and there’s nothing lacking in the experience with my Scriveiner set. If you enjoy the art of writing you will not be disappointed. I’ve already given several Scriveiner pens as gifts and they’ve all been happily received. I’ve tried several other affordable luxury pens and for me Scriveners stand out among them for their high quality workmanship, appearance, durability, and performance. Treat yourself or someone else… I hope your experience is as enjoyable as mine!

This is a beautifully crafted pen. When you don’t want to spend $500+ on a Mont Blanc, this exquisitely inscribed pen is a great gift. The package is lovely as well.

This is a great looking pen. The problem I've had twice now is the lid gets stuck on the pen and it won't come off without damaging it. Very frustrating. So, if you're okay using the pen without being able to recap your pen when you are done writing, this pen is for you. Otherwise, proceeded with caution!!! UPDATE!! Excellent customer service. I love Scriveiner pens. I have purchaced four or so of them. One of them had a defective cap. It would go on so tight that I had to use pliers to get it loose. It damaged the pen cosmetically. I wrote a review explaining the cap defect and I was suprized that Schriveiner pen company reached out to me within a day and offered both a refund and a new pen. I told them I was grateful for the new pen, but no refund was necessary. They issued a refund anyway. It's not often that a company has a fantastic product AND fantastic customer service. I am a Scriveiner for life customer!!

I am a pen snob and make a lot of hand-written notes with high quality writing instruments. I am a fan of Montblanc pens, and was considering purchasing another Montblanc when I came across these Scriveiners. I just received the pen and - WOW. The writing is effortless and the ink delivery is beautiful. My signature has never looked so good. My Wife, who doesn't care about these things, LOVED it and was amazed how effortless the writing experience is. She said, "your hand won't get sore from writing with this, you don't even have to press down." It's a great looking, resin-style pen with a good lacquer. Nice and rich looking. Not too heavy, but feels substantial in the hand. The box is very nice and the free refill enclosed with it adds value. It's no Montblanc, but for the money, I'd say... are you looking for a nice writing instrument for yourself or as a gift and don't want to spend hundreds? GO FOR IT.
