no screws!
Needs internet to download the supporting files - instructions included point to www yahboom net / study / Tiny:bit (argh amazon, why can't we paste links!?) to find the complete support documentation, which has the required firmware to write to the micro:bit as well as the android app to pair with and remote control the robot from a phone. There are also links to the code samples and lessons to get to learn about the various features of the hardware and how to control them. Advanced lessons in python are provided for those more curious. However, like another reviewer, I was unable to find code for the actual tiny:bit library itself, and most of these seem to be very dependent on a smartphone for control.Pros:+ neat all-in-one kit+ sonar, rgb lights, ir, even external expansion connectors+ no-screw assembly!+ entertains kids for hours and hours (and we've only barely started with the first few lessons!)Cons/improvements:- requires a computer and internet to download software to start- requires a smartphone for control (would be nice to cycle between modes with the A/B buttons on the tiny:bit as well)- app can't install on a kids (managed) phone because side-loading is restricted - it's not on the normal Play store- no library code ?- no sensors to prevent it from falling down stairs, so watch carefully!Either:% very small height means it will fit most places, like under couches and furniture (my kids love this part, but means it might get lost!)

A nice little robot to play with
I just finished assembling it. I did find that the rivets required some force to get them to push in all the ways. I was a little nervous that I might brake something on the chassis while doing it. Nothing broke. I found it easy to assemble other than the rivets. But, what I did not like about it was the online manual. I'm using Chrome as my browser and it had trouble viewing the material correctly; ie. some pages didn't render all the ways. Also, when I went to download the blue-tooth hex file it was in .rar format. My son helped me with that by installing software that can open .rar files. But, windows couldn't open it directly. It was fun to play with. Although, I was not impressed by the ios app that is used to control it; it does basic things but didn't fit onto my screen that well - I use an ipod-touch 7th generation with the app. So, maybe the app was designed for larger screen format Apple devices.I'm looking forward to trying to install my own program on it and see what I can do with it.I give it 3 stars because I rarely give 5 and I give 4 when I have absolutely no issues with a product. Because of the trouble pushing in the rivets, I lowered it to 3 stars. I think it would be very frustrating for a small child and they probably wouldn't be able to push them in; took a lot of force.

Arrived at time. Very good setup and libarary
Great robot, the only thing that have to imorove is calibration of sensors that enable the robot to follow or avoid obstcales.

Excellent customer service
Our ten year old kid easily assembled this, and used his Chromebook to code. We followed their online tutorial to make the robot navigate obstacles. The instructions provide a Github URL to copy/paste into the Microbit project "advanced > extensions" screen which enables the robot's features. There's also an iPhone app.The plastic rivets wouldn't quite hold the motor clip in place, and its leads quickly came loose - we contacted the company by email and they sent us a new unit without quibble. (The rivets are counter-intuitive: both halves push through from the top.)A neat, inexpensive way to introduce kids to practical coding. Make sure to buy the Microbit separately.

great product for DIY and education
Haven't used the robot as a robot yet, just as a cradle for the micrbit.

Fragile little robot
It is a great little robot. We had no problems with the directions or finding the add in for Makecode. However, it can be fragile. We've had two of these become disabled because one of the capacitors soldered to the top broke off. We were using these in class and they were being placed in a box, not thrown around or abused. Just fragile.I'm picking one of the similarly priced and featured ones now with no problems.
