I LOVE this trash can (what an adult thing to say haha!) I use it in my kitchen for all the usual kitchen trash. I've read reviews complaining that when it's full you cannot turn the lid anymore...frankly DONT BE LAZY AND EMPTY IT!!! Honestly who would want to leave organic trash sitting in their kitchen too long anyway!?It's easy to change the liner and it tucks away neatly which is great for a creative/designer/slightly OCD eye that likes things to look nice and neat. Any 13gal bag will do but I typically like to use the lavender scented ones in any critical trash can (kitchen, diaper pail, outside doggy doo pail...which is what my old electronically opening kitchen can that quickly stopped working was demoted to and why I had to find this new analog one. DON'T FALL FOR THOSE ELECTRONIC CANS PEOPLE THEY DONT LAST!) , as well as a light dusting of baking soda at the bottom of all of those to neutralise any smell that may try to form,. No odor issue and the lid itself spins freely until it's time to change. I have a household of 3 and a dog and I cook 2x or more a day everyday so it gets a lot of use. We change it perhaps 2-3x/week depending on activity.It's very easy to clean with just some cleaning white vinegar. It's sturdy enough to not get easily knocked over by my very happy and active 95lbs Pit-Lab, or dinged in spite of being in a high traffic area (In my home you walk right into the kitchen) It feels thick and very well made and I can rather easily fit in most anything I normally would in a kitchen without touching it directly because it swings easily. I do like to use a counter top trash can while cooking to put organics in a pouch there first, bundle it when done cooking and toss it at one of the sides of the lid that says "push" and it goes right in. If you'd rather not use that much plastic there are other options like bamboo towels or small liners and other affordable and effective alternatives💚)My home was built in the 1940's with an addition built in the 1960's so I was going for practical and modern appliances and pieces but that have a vintage vibe to it. I'm glad I went for this one over another vintage push style one that has a reputation for being solid but also small opening that's harder to push open (again, the aim is to *not* touch a kitchen trash can as much as possible) and it cost over twice as much.I would get a second one for recycling to match, but I hesitate because quite a few items I recycle are larger than the lid opening. My current plastic step can flip top one by Simple Human SUCKS (yeah I'm putting you out there, all your cans topple over every time the step lid is used!!) The step can lid keeps disconnecting everytime otherwise it was a perfect size and shape for recycables...but for kitchen or other trash this one excellent and looks like it will last many many years 🤗 I'm still considering buying again for recycables.

I purchased this as an early Christmas present for my dog who had a love of trash. I dreaded making this kind of purchase because I hate trashcans with lids with a deep passion. They're always dirty, and cheap, and break. Not this one!Finally a lid trash can that is, easy to clean, sturdy, and just everything a trash can should be.The petal/lid have remained in tact. I have not had a single issue with them. They just work. In past these kinds of cans have always broken at the lid or petal from normal use. This then eliminating the purpose of a hands free lid and making you touch the lid to throw something away, gross, no!!The pull out campartment is just as amazing as the silent lid. It tucks the bag into the can so I don't have to stare at it peeking out from under the lid!! Sanctuary! Then when it is time to take the bag out it easily lifts free. Bag to heavy to remove without it breaking? No problem!! Just take the whole compartment out and carry it to the dumpster. You don't get gross trash juice all over you and you don't have to awkwardly hug the whole can (lid and all) to the dumpster.The can looks great, is very attractive, and stays very clean.Bottomline, well worth the price. Would recommend to a friend. Would repurchase if needed.

Best can ever!! This can is great quality, thicker material and has an inner can to put the garbage bag and hides it! I tried 3 others and if you bump the top it will dent. Also the others do not have the inner can that fully hides the bags. You put the garbage bag on the inner can and slide it right into the outer holder. Done! Hides bag with garbage bag fully held open.Only slightly more than the knock offs. Worth every dime!

I have read many complaints about this type of trash can arriving dented and scratched. I want to say that this arrived very well packaged and in perfect condition. I bought it to replace a similar one I have had for about 30 years. Aside from that my old one was recently dented by someone tripping and falling on it (!), it did function. However, the new item is far superior and I am super happy with it. All the little frustrations and difficulties with the old item are designed away in the new item. Lid stays fully open if lifted by hand, or use the foot pedal for open to toss something in, and in both cases it will shut slowly and silently. Inside, there are air vents that make it easier to remove the full bag, whereas in the old can there was suction because of no air vents and it was a struggle, plus in the old one the lid would not open fully or stay open. The new one has a neat hole to tighten the bag making it easier to set up. Also the new one has a little ledge inside so when you tilt and lift the inner removable liner it stays high enough to tuck the plastic bag in. Truthfully I never realized the degree to which I was wrestling with the old one until this new one arrived.

In my mind....spending $50 on a trashcan is like walking through the doorway into adulthood! We needed something better in our home and the cheap ikea plastic trashcan I had just wasn't cutting it anymore. I looked online and knew if I wanted something that had a classier look that I was going to have to spend some money. I found this gem at only $49 - and the simply human name carries a lot of weight when it comes to trash cans - they are always the most expensive - however, this can wasn't much more expensive than other metal step cans - but there is a difference. First off there is the not smudge surface - it's kind of a matt metalic surface - and I tried to leave fingerprints but it wasn't happening. Next is the slow close feature - so the top doesn't slam down, also the top stays open with a nudge all the way to the back. And finally the removable inner basket (which has this special stand that partially lifts the inner container making it easy to grab the bag), which will make cleaning much easier. The step mechanism looks and feels incredibly sturdy, but only time will tell if that holds up; although, based on other family members experience with Simple Human, it will last for years! VERY happy with my purchase.

The 30L simplehuman round step trash can arrived a day early, so that was great news. I was looking for a can that was inexpensive, attractive, stainless steel and wouldn't show fingerprints. I also wanted something that would close quietly and completely, and it was imperative that the can would seal tightly to keep odors in. My review is written with these criteria in mind in hopes that my review may help others (with similar criteria).At under $60, the price can't be beat. I researched in stores and online for several weeks before deciding on this simplehuman trash can. Many lower-rated cans of the same size and features cost $20 more. The can is quite attractive. My 7 and 10 year old boys were all too happy to test the claim of fingerprint-proof and it passed with flying colors. The lid closes with a tight seal in a whisper-quiet fashion. Another plus with this can is the removable liner. Using the trash bags made by the manufacturer, the bag is completely hidden when the can is closed. I haven't used the can long enough to speak to its durability or ability to trap odors, but I will will update my review after a month or so of use.I am giving the Simplehuman round step trash can 4 stars. I withheld one star because the trash bags also made by the manufacturer are relatively expensive. 10 bags were included with the order. My updated review will cover how the can works with other trash bags.

This is a beautifully made commercial quality trash can. It is very large, but is also very attractive. We use folded paper towels in our bathroom and produce a lot of trash. If you have the space, this is a really nice upgrade.

I saw this can in a restaurant restroom and thought that it would be perfect for my kitchen. The lid keeps all the stuff you don't want to see (or smell) well hidden. It's a big beautiful can with an ingenious lid. No foot pedal to break. When I purchase online, I instinctively go to the negative reviews first. I don't understand those for this can. First and foremost, you don't need to buy the liners that fit this can perfectly but why wouldn't you? They're not a whole lot more expensive than the ordinary 49.2 liter liners you'll find in the grocery store but are made to fit this can (not a smaller 13 gallon). The lion's share of negative reviews are from those who don't buy the bigger liners made to fit this can. There's no side slipping, trouble pulling the bag out or having the lid swing down into the garbage if you use the can as it's meant to be used. If you're used to filling your trash to the top and pushing it down over and over then of course the grocery store bags will slip off of the side and of course you're gonna have trouble pulling the bag out and of course the lid will eventually get in the way of the trash... But why would you allow that to happen then leave a negative review. The level of trash at which the lid would get in the way is still a greater capacity than a standard 13 gallon could hold so just take out the trash before it gets that high. Simple solutions.

Fits a lot, looks great, soft close and repels fingerprints. What more can you ask for? A little pricey, but worth it.

This is my second Simple Human bin. It arrived excellently packaged and in perfect condition. Unlike my previous one it is all metal and looks stylish (as far as a bin can be stylish) in my kitchen. It has a plastic "liner" which is fully removable and seems very practical for cleaning instead of reaching down inside the metal cylinder. It is easy to open with the pedal and has a soft-close feature. The lid won't open fully if you are storing under a breakfast bar like me, but opens sufficiently for easy discarding of rubbish. The G 30l Simple Human bags fit very snugly. I had to get used to fitting the bin liner over the lip of the aforementioned plastic insert liner but once I did, it was fine. The smugness means the bin bag doesn't slip and slide down the bin as they're designed to fit exactly t9nthe model of bin you choose. There was a free pack of 10 liners with the bin. For the price 20 would have been a little more generous! A Simple Human bin and liners aren't a cheap option, but I can vouch for the quality and ease of use.
