Orly"s Draw-A-Story

I came across Orly in the late 90's when my kids were still quite young, and I had never seen anything like it! The central characters are engaging, the stories are fun and clever, and the way that users can interact with the story, drawing and coloring pictures that are then (minimally) animated and integrated into the story is outstanding. Older children can write and illustrate their own stories from scratch, the doodle pad allows freehand drawing as well as the inclusion of a decent variety of line-drawn objects and characters, and the overall quality of the product is very high. My youngest are now 14 and 16, but when I recently acquired this copy of the program, they both cheered and dove right back in!There is more to Orly than the currently popular crop of "interactive books", and it is much more than a toy or game. It takes some tweaking to get it to run on a newer computer, but you can find what you need online and it is worth it. This product is MAGIC! :-)

I loved the product when my children used it years ago. When I saw they had it available on Amazon I purchased it for my local elementary school to use with the younger students who were learning about the Caribbean. However, we were not able to install the software because the technology was not compatible with the new computer systems.

This was a gift for our daughter years ago. She loved it. All the kids in the neighborhood loved it. The pictures move. The drawings the kids made move. Orly talks with a Jamaican accent. It's really cute & fun. We did have to call customer service to set up a particular file, then it ran well.

This unit is designed to work on 32 bit systems and mine is 64 bit. No information on cover about this problem.If your system is 64 bit, don't buy this. It wont work. However, if your system is 32 bit, its great for little kids and I would highly recommend it.Your tots will spend hours playing with it.

People need to stop reviewing this poorly just because they can't get it to work. There's nothing wrong with the game, you just aren't using the correct operating system. Understand that this game came out in 1996, when the world was still running Windows 3.1 and only just moving to Windows 95. If you want this to work, try downloading a virtual instance of Windows 2000 on VMWare or VirtualBox if you're thrifty and running in compatibility mode with 256 color and 640X480 resolution (remember, this was the mid 90s). By the way, if you get a WINSPOOL.dll error, try moving to the Orly file in your computer and duplicating the WINSPOOL.drv file. Then, simply rename one of them to WINSPOOL.dll and you should be able to start it right up.As for the game itself, what an amazingly advanced game for its age. The music, story lines, and game play are hilarious. Love this game, glad I purchased it.

It wont download on my computers, says that its not compatable. I tried on 3 different computers on 3 different windows versions.

I have 5 children that I home educate and Orly and her humorous frog keep my children engaged. You can draw whatever you like when prompted or use the predesigned pictures and they will come to life in any of the great stories your child chooses. So much to see and do funny little pop ups to make this cd so interesting, even the eraser argues with undo. TOO funny! Your kids will love this CD.
