My birds seem to llike lt. I also have the mesh feeders and they like those as well. However I have noticed the finches are not feeding a lot lately on either type feeder, don't know why except maybe a natural food source is available. Perhaps it's just regional or the time of year. I'm in CA on the SF peninsula and I seem to have a similar situation. Try putting out your old feeder along with the new one, they may just need to get used to seing it for awhile. I have Mourning Doves in my area and they come and eat the seed off the ground. Good luck. Hope I helped.

I called the company to get some replacements, because the bottom two perches fell off. They sent them to me for free.
