**Q: How long are the cutting blades?**
A: The blades measure 6 inches from the tips to the pivot screw.  The handles add another 6 inches, for a total length of 12 inches.

**Q: Is the spring strong enough to open the blades, when the blade becomes coated with sap?**
A: I'm not sure about sap.  But, these are some of the best clippers we have ever bought.  They are strong, great grip, sharp and easy to use.  I would say as long as you keep the blades clean they will work well.

We bought two different grass clippers for more money, tried them and returned them. This pair is made of heavy material, blades are very sharp and cuts great. So much better than expected.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fearsomely sharp clippers.

I have used these scissors now for about 2 months. These are excellent for trimming grass around difficult stone edging. Easy to maneuver and very sharp, almost scary sharp. That's because they are made from high carbon steel, which holds an edge very well. The high carbon steel is also why they tend to tarnish and show rust easily. The workaround is simple, get a can of WD40 and spritz them after every use. The latch that keeps the scissors closed seems to be an afterthought and they do sometimes lock themselves while using, but that is a minor annoyance and for me not a make or break issue. These are made in Vietnam. Yes, I would buy these scissors again. They seem to be very sturdy and I think that will not be for a long while.
