Can anybody tell me the thickness in millimetersof this extender rod?

I can’t tell you the thickness of it, but it seemed to be plenty sturdy and if good quality. I’m sure it will fit any standard fitting.

Is it okay to just use the teflon tape and NOT the washer/screen thing?

I removed the screen, but used the washer to provide a good seal. My shower head has a screen.
