Actually, I've seen a few other new kinds of packing tape dispensers lately, but none really quite like this one. And so far, I don't really have any complaints about it. Except for maybe the noise of the darn tape. But that's all on the tape, not the dispenser. I just wish they could come up with tape that is quieter when used in a tape dispenser. I do a lot of late night work in the front room of my house but really, no matter where I do it I can't really use any packing tape dispensers. Even in the daytime, if anybody was walking by or anything as I used a packing tape dispenser, they'd probably be able to hear it out by the street and would be thinking to themselves, "What the heck is going on in THAT house!?" Lol.

The tape reel rotates to dispense tape by sliding against the plastic ring that holds it. The only issue with that is that you have to hold the dispenser "just right" to prevent contact with the roll of tape so that it can turn. Look carefully at the videos and see how they hold it when in use (the photos can be misleading). This would be easy to remedy if they'd mold a couple of slots into the inner ring, and provide a 3rd L-shaped piece that slides into those slots for you to rest your thumb or fingers on (depending on which hand holds it).The sharp metal teeth that cut the tape are covered by the thin orange silicone rubber that folds back when you apply pressure (or the tape applies pressure) it works fine, but I doubt it will be durable. It's a very clever design that needs a couple tweaks to be great.

Whether you pack boxes daily, like I do, or if you are just packing boxes to move, you need this. It will save you from looking for a pair of scissors or a utility knife to cut your tape or stabbing it with the nearest pen. There is an orange rubber safety guard over the cutter for your protection. Also, it holds the end of the tape, saving you the frustration of trying to "find the lost edge," no more having to fold over the end. I like how it is super easy and fast to load. Having used many different types of tape dispensers in the past, this is my favorite by far. You'll like it, I promise.

I agree with all the other positive reviews, and can't think of anything negative to say. This weird looking thing is easy to hold and dispense and cut and SAVE the tape open and ready. I've used various pistol grip designs in the past, but non of them cut the tape easily, and are awkward when you want to. You can buy tape with a similar "ring" cutter (3M, USPS), but they jam the roll, and fold the tape end back on it. Frustrating!! It took me a day or two to realize the string/loop is to hang the roller on a hook (Command Hook) in a convenient spot. I bought a 2nd one for the workshop.

Tape stays in place, easy to use.My hubby is so happy he asked me to by a second one. Not sure of durability, but so far so good.

If you've used other similar dispensers, you know how the tape roll gets in the way of a good seal. This great design removes other's imperfections and presents a "must have" product. If you need to seal ONE box, you need this product. (Congratulations to the designers.)

So far so good. Easy to load and time will tell about durability.
