This stuff rocks
I love this interfacing; I buy it by the bolt and use a lot of it. At its current price, it's costing me about $2.00 per yard, which is a pretty unbeatable price. I like the weight and the amount of support it provides in clothing; not too heavy, not too stiff, but not wimpy, either. It's great in collars, neck facings, button plackets, cuffs, etc., and gives just the right touch of support to make them all look really nice. And yet, it's very subtle; it's not a noticeable stiffening or anything like that, but it really "perks up" the look of those design features. Works great both in knits and wovens.Oh - it also has a great feature: it doesn't have a grain line, so you can cut out pattern pieces from it using any scrap you can fit the pieces on, in any direction. It doesn't matter if you are cutting lengthwise, crosswise, or on the bias. It works the same in all directions. This makes it possible to use more and waste less.I also use it on my sewing patterns. When I find a pattern I really like and know I will use it more than once, I iron this interfacing to the back of the original pattern. I then trace the pattern using Swedish tracing paper and make my size adjustments on that. Doing this preserves my original patterns to use as many times as I want and still make future size adjustments if necessary. If anyone is interested, here is how I do that: first, I press the wrinkles out of my patterns using low heat and no steam, ironing on the back side to keep my iron clean. Then, to iron the interfacing onto the back side of the pattern, I place the interfacing glue side up, then place my pattern backside down on top. Then I cover that with a clean flour sack towel as a pressing cloth and press using a very hot iron with steam. The result is a sturdy pattern that I can go back and use time and time again, making any size adjustments as necessary on my Swedish tracing paper pieces. Of course, I can't then refold the patterns to put in their envelope, so I cut a 3/4" hole near the top of each piece and hang them all from a pattern hook. Finally, I hook on the Swedish tracing paper pattern pieces I have adjusted, and then add the pattern envelope on top so I always know which pattern I'm looking at. It may sound cumbersome, but it has worked out to be a great system for patterns I use over and over.Overall, it's a fantastic, multi-use interfacing, and I will continue to buy it by the bolt.
