A drum key is about as simple a tool as it gets. It just needs to fit tuning rods and not break. There's these minor inconveniences about tuning or changing a drum head that make you wish there were easier workarounds like the time it takes to fully screw/unscrew a tuning rod and reducing the torque in your wrist when tuning/detuning with resistance. There's a lot of techy drum keys and I've tried a number of them. A lot of them seem better in theory than in practical application. The Firefly to me, is the best manual drum key on the market and it's not even close. The ratchet function is excellent in reducing wrist torque and fine tuning while the textured end tips allows you to quick spin the tuning rods out of and into lugs for faster tuning or changing out a head. It's about the same weight as cast keys. It feels solid, is very strong and is about the same size as the average key. It has a hole to hang it from a key chain. It's advanced in function, simple in design, well built and it looks good too. I can't recommend it enough.

I have quite a few drum keys, this one is the best that have used in my 53 years of drumming. It's worth every cent, I highly recommend it.
