I purchased mine May of 2020, and it just started leaking today (a little over a year). It leaks where the inner threaded part connects to the plastic bottle. I would say this had moderate use and no abuse.

How durable is this container? I just was gifted one and really like it, and the reviews are very high, but I'm afraid it will puncture in my book bag

I purchased the 1.5 liter bag and when I dropped it from about thigh height, it broke. Not a huge hole or anything, just no longer sealed and dripping water. I am exchanging it for another, smaller size to see if maybe the less amount can improve sturdiness and also I wasn’t crazy about the original color. I’ll update if it is actually not really durable.

How do you wash it? Can it be put in a dishwasher?

Mine have been through the dishwasher many times. I position it over one of the tines and make sure there is a glass behind it to keep it in place. I have had no issues with either one of mine.
