This product works well with setup in a 55 gallon tank. I use these in both my canister filter and as the sole media in a HOB supplemental filter. It doesn't clog as easily as foam media does, but still provides a lot of surface area for bacteria to grow on, and doesn't require nearly as much maintenance. I used to use foam in my HOB but it would always clog and slow down the flow rate but replacing it with these kept the flow rate high and clogging almost never happens; just give them a rinse with aquarium water every month or so to get rid of large debris. I didn't even need to let these things ripen up for very long as I added them to a cycled and established tank.Good product, but can be a little pricey for what they are especially if you need to order several boxes, but there aren't too many alternatives available. Recommended!

Does not affect the noise of the filter and is effective ammonia management. I use this for our turtle tank so I need to change more often and while they are easy to install, I do wish they came with a replacement bag and fastener. This product keeps the water clarity and appearance high.
