Micro Food Gardening: Project Plans and Plants for Growing Fruits and Veggies in Tiny Spaces Review: Full of great ideas - Great tips for things to grow with limited space! I was inspired to grow Alpine berries after reading this. Review: Ideas that are for small spaces - Through the years, I've read a lot on gardening in small spaces and I've enjoyed the reading, but oftentimes, the 'small space' is relative. "Micro Food Gardening: Project Plans and Plants for Growing Fruits and Veggies in Tiny Spaces" by Jen McGuinness has ideas for small spaces because of a lot of the ideas utilize containers. That's great for me because that's about all my 'small space' can handle. I also like that the containers are re-purposed items like wine boxes and cups etc. It gives extra incentive. We ended up trying the sprouts project (alfalfa in particular) and it worked out quite well. I love sprouts in sandwiches and burgers so I was pleased. I also like the Introduction and Section 1 which helps explains the why, what and where. If it sounds good, then proceed to Section 2 for the projects. Most of the projects are within my scope so I like them. There's nothing so elaborate that it seems out of reach. I think this book is going to get some good use.

Amazing photos and projects
This book is absolutely wonderful. It offers projects that even a beginner can tackle. The images make it supremely easy to follow along step by step. This is essential for me as I am known for killing off my plants! However Jen makes things sound so simple and I feel like I can really make this work finally! The book talks about growing micro food and small area gardening- this is perfect for people who don’t have a large gardening plot. I love the groupings she comes up with like the salsa project and the stir fry garden- I can’t wait to get started. I highly recommend this book!

mostly projects
the book assumes you have some experience with houseplants. there is little reference to specific varieties and not a lot of detailed info on nurturing the specific dwarfs. there are a lot of projects and instructions for how to assemble them. overall, not what I expected. I had hoped for a deeper delve into the plants themselves. my mistake.

A book to inspire everyone
This is a really fun book for my whole family - for my husband (a fairly avid gardener) who is picking up some great tips; for me (the one with a black thumb) to introduce me to the basics and inspire me to get growing; and for my kids who love browsing the creative projects and will be the first ones to pick the plants clean! I also really like how this book organizes the projects by season. It will be a useful guide all year long.

Great ideas for small spaces
I have been looking for a book like this for years. It addresses the challenges of trying to grow your own with limited space (like our small NYC patio). Excellent ideas, easy to follow, and has the whole family excited for salads in the summer with the food we have grown at home.

Has some good ideas
There are quite a few books on small gardening. This one is well laid out with lots of ideas and photos on how to make small planting areas in a tight space. But from someone who has done this many times you will find eventually you'll have some trash you need to get rid of. For instance, there's a project on using a little piece of aluminum gutter. Nothing is forever and eventually you may get tired of it being in that location, or how it looks or whatever. So before you go to all the trouble keep in mind you will eventually change it or trash it. But the pot on a mailbox is something simple. Lots of good ideas to help you plan.

Micro Edibles for Everyone
I am really enjoying this book. The steps are easy to follow, the illustrations are beautiful, and the ideas are creative. I even think the kids would like helping on some of the projects, like the Strawberry cake stand.
