James Beard Move Over
My Dad taught me to barbecue. He also turned me on to James Beard who's Outdoor Cookbook with the great 50's photos was great. Decades later I got the Mario Batali Italian Grill cookbook. I've cooked probably 2/3 of the recipes over the last two years. They are great. I really like the porterhouse with the fresh herbs/kosher salt/freshly ground black pepper. And the spit recipes, particularly the chicken and pork loin. And the porkchops with the spicy sweet peppers. I could go on and on. It's now in my top 10 cookbooks, right along with Julia Child.I use a HastyBake grill with lump oak charcoal.

A low-carb friendly Italian cookbook?
Great cookbook! I've been a Mario Batali fan for a long time and have flipped through some of his cookbooks but never thought that had enough practical recipes that I would actually cook. This one is the exception. Lots of great recipes that are easy to prepare (and some wild ones too).Overall it's a great book and I look forward to cooking my way through it.I highly recommend this book if you are interested in some alternative Italian dishes, a Batali fan, or just looking for some delicious ideas!

A must have for your collection
Great book with really tasty recipes. For get together that we grill the chicken thigh recipe is a staple. I make that recipe more than any other. A lot more great ones as well.

Mario Batali Italian Grill
We saw this cookbook at a friends house and had to have a copy. Since we're living in our RV while we're constructing our house, the grill has become crucial. The recipes are interesting and well detailed. The stone cooking method (Piastra) has given me a whole new dimension with the grill. Also, this is the only cookbook that I've seen that gives a specific recipe for King Mackeral, which is readily available here. The photography is superb. We're very pleased with this purchase!

Nothing I would Make
Most recipes are for things I would not make on the grill. Of course this is my opinion, but if you're into lots of seafood things then go for it. Plus I don't remember the pictures or directions being that great or helpful. Disappointed considering this is a well-known chef.

Great Grilling Recipes
So far, every recipe I have tried has been great. I LOVE the fact that there are plenty of non-meat recipes. Don't get me wrong. I love meat, but I have friends who have grilling parties. This lets me bring alternative dishes that aren't the same old thing. My typical M.O. is to put bookmarks on the main recipes I want to try. With Italian Grill, there were so many recipes I want to try, that I didn't even bother.Definitely will be using this for tailgating.

Two Different Cook Book Covers!
I didn't realize this cookbook by Mario had two difference covers. I ended up buying it twice! But as always Mario brings his Italian style and influences...it is just this time it is on the grill! Good Book!

MMM,MMM,Batali
We liked it so much that this is the second copy we have purchased. The first was for our son, but my husband liked it so much he kept it. So this second copy is for the kid! They chat away about all kinds of recipes for the grill, and M Batali is right up there with great flavor and something different and usually succulent to try.
