Q: Can someone provide the maximum span when fully extended? I see from another answer an F-150 is too wide.

I don't know how wide it expands, but I have a Honda Odyssey and I love this!

No this will not fit a DVD player that big.

Q: does it work well with dvd players that the screen does not turn?

We never turned our screen while using so I think it would be fine. My daughter sits in the middle seat in her car seat and we have this in front of her when we go for long trips.
