Another wonderful story for horse lovers!
The is part of a “true” series in that it should be read in order to receive the most enjoyment from it.It was wonderful visiting with Kate, Tori, and Colt again. I really enjoyed seeing how they are all growing and maturing as this series progresses. They have been friends for awhile now but in this story they are trying to figure out how to work things out as they try to add one more person to the group. Not just any person this time but the one who has caused them the most grief in the past.I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know Melissa and slowly learning about her life and what has caused her to change in how she treats Kate and her friends. It was wonderful to see Kate trying to reach out to Melissa and share her belief in God at the same time. These are all such realistic thirteen year olds. They are struggling with trying to figure out how to make wise and proper choices. They are also working on learning the balance of when they can make their own decision and when they need to seek the counsel and advice of their parents. It is a tough balancing act for any young teenager and this book does a marvelous job of telling it.I received a free eBook copy of this novel through NetGalley. I chose to write this review expressing my personal opinion.

Great Preteen Mystery for Horse Lovers!!
Miralee Ferrell has outdone herself in this Horses and Friends series for kids ages 8-12. Her latest offering, Mystery Rider, is as good, if not better, than the first two.Kate Ferris and her friends Colt and Tory have reluctantly let snobby Melissa into their social circle. Melissa suggests the kids advertise the stables by riding in the upcoming Fort Dalles Days parade. As the kids begin brainstorming, they are sidetracked by a spooky phantom rider, dressed all in black, face covered, riding a black horse. Who is this rider, and why is he/she trying to scare the friends? Is it Melissa herself, showing her true colors?Miralee shows a familiarity with daily struggles a family with an autistic child can face. She also sensitively shows the struggles young teens face as they navigate uncertain friendships, battling between following their human natures or Christ's directives. The teens in this story truly begin to blossom in this book, making it enjoyable for adult or preteen as well! Highly recommended!!

One of the best book series ever!
The character development in these books is great, the stories are beautiful, and it is so easy for a young girl to relate! Wish the author would write 10 more!

Another great adventure!
Kate, Tori, Colt and new friend Melissa are planning to enter the Dalles Fort Parade to advertise the boarding stable the Ferris family is running. Although suspicious of Melissa Kate asks Melissa to take the lead on the project. Tis book teaches of compassion and not making assumptions about people until you really get to know them. Kate seems to have a hard time believing Melissa, who use to be mean to her and best friend Tori, can really change. It takes Kates mom and friends to help her see through eyes of compassion. One night Kate, Tori and Colt saw someone in a cloak riding a big beautiful horse. Thinking it’s just Melissa playing a prank Kate blows it off but Colt is determined to find out who the mystery rider is. Another adventure ensues and another lesson in compassion begins!
